I love Barnacle Press. My favourite one is the end, where Mr True gloats over the corpses of his victims.

That's a real beaut.

That's excellent, but I can't seem to find the one where he becomes editor of Melody Maker.

Methinks we need this fellow on ILX!

There seems to be a few where they don't stick to the formula, they're not as good.

Still, I do wish *this* Everett True had become a music critic, as well.

Oh, wait, he is!

"I'll perform a few surgical operations that'll make this place look like a sausage factory!" -- surely he's not talking about what I think he's talking about?

Ha ha ha, just like Milk and Cheese. Gorgeous art.

Info on this strip via Toonopedia:

http://www.toonopedia.com/true.htm

They made new strips in the eighties in the Comics Journal, where he lashed out against people in the comics industry he didn't like! I'd love to see those.

IIRC, the revival was in CBG, not Comics Journal, and was written by Tony Isabella. I think the art was by Greg Dumm. (I hope I got the name right — one of the "American Splendor" artists.)

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 31 August 2005 13:22 (eighteen years ago) link

Correction: Isabella's ET revival did go to the Journal after he got on CBG/Krause's bad side.

Public Domain, you say?

Vic Fluro, Wednesday, 31 August 2005 22:13 (eighteen years ago) link

Gary Dumm is the American Splendour regular, but I dunno that it was him who did the dodgy revival.

Bumping this for the following: Barnacle Press have posted a second batch of Everett True strips! Just follow the link at the top of the page.

TS: The strip where he murders a man for mistreating a dog vs the strip where he murders a dog.
