honestly at first i thought this was was one of those "don't be like me" dudes who goes around cautioning young players about chewing tobacco, or the guy who tells players when they've been cut, or the guy who goes around making sure the Rockies all have their Bibles in their lockers even on road trips.

man, arenado is just something else. having only watched brooks robinson highlight reel clips, are they at the same level? it's hard to imagine anyone having better instincts than arenado.

Of course, (Blackmon's) numbers are all a product of Coors Field to some degree. As a member of the Rockies, Blackmon plays half his games in a ballpark that inflates offensive lines, which naturally invites suspicion regarding the legitimacy of Blackmon’s hitting exploits.

Fortunately, we can account for that. His 147 wRC+ — a mark that adjusts both for league and park — ranks sixth in the NL and indicates that Blackmon has been one of the National League’s best hitters even *after* acknowledging the influence of Coors.

Blackmon really is tearing it up. he's scored 131 runs now. once you get up into the 140s, you see some other players from recent years but mostly old-timey baseball or WW2 era dudes.

Jeff Bagwell scored 152(!) runs in 2000, wtf.

Harper and Trout both project around 140 each if they'd been healthy this year.

If my calculations are correct, the magic number is 2.
