hey dr. m.

just watched the apartment and some like it hot for the first time (lol, i suck) loved them both:

1. What's next? (I've seen Ace in the Hole, eh, didn't like it that much.)

2. Am I correct in thinking that Some Like it Hot is better than the Apartment?

3. etc

I actually prefer The Apartment after loving SLIH since childhood. It's deeper, less broad, and Hot kinda peaks with the Lemmon-Joe E Brown tango (at least til the last line).

Along with Midnight, this splendid Lubitsch comedy stars future Trading Places villain Don Ameche:

These might qualify, too:

The Awful Truth
Forsaking All Others (I'm especially fond of Charles Buttersworth in this film.)

criterion ed of "my man godfrey" is on its way. will hopefully get a chance to watch this week

managed to track down a copy of midnight so ima scrn a double feature tomorrow w/some friends + drinkz. it sounds a+ exactly what i was thinking of even if takes place in paris

already seen the thin man and read the book a couple of times so skipping that and theres a copy of heaven can wait around my apt might rewatch on sat if theres time. it certainly is lovely tho``` ive also seen the awful truth but a really long time ago. forsaking all others is probably not gonna happen since its oop

there was some thread ages ago about parts of movies that fill one with happiness and I wrote something about the scene in Holiday in which all the likable characters are hiding from the rich folks upstairs at the New Year's party.
