i actually watched a bunch of cricket when i was in nepal - it was the world cup. a home run is called a 6 wicket and the field is round. and theyve foolishly abandoned the sweet all white uniform aesthetic in favor of some bullshit.

i found it kinda relaxing and it goes on forever. also my friend glen hated it so if i got the remote id put it on to torture him.

and they just sad the pakistan coach died of natural causes wtf.

since i am now supreme mod tell me more of the cricket.

instead of striking out after 3 misses (in baseball), a batsman can not be gotten out unless the ball hits the three stumps behind him, hits his legs when it was going to hit the stumps, or is caught after hitting his bat. there are other ways he can get out but they are complicated and you will discover them in due course.

the bowler must deliver the ball overarm without bending his elbow, and the ball must bounce less than three times before reaching the batsman. normally, good bowling involves the ball bouncing once. the bowler may impart spin on the ball by flicking his wrist or fingers as he releases it; this requires skill. otherwise, he can run in and bowl as fast as he can in an attempt to defeat the batsman through pace alone.

to score runs, the two batsman at the wicket (the 22-yard symmetrical strip along which the bowler bowls) must run between each end, before the fielders can get the ball to either set of stumps. if they do so before the batsman is safely in his ground, the batsman is 'run out' and must leave the field.

there are 11 batsmen, but they must bat in pairs, so when 10 wickets fall, the side is all out and the team who has just been in the field must bat.

test cricket is long and has 2 innings each, one-day cricket is short and only has 1 each. one-day cricket has more attacking shots and immediate excitement, but test cricket is better. one day u too will understand why.

that will do for now, but do not hesitate to ask any more questions, great moderator! :):):):):)

1 more thing: to hit the ball away from fielders so that they might run more runs, the batsmen must play shots which they have practised and perfected over the course of their careers. often these shots are incredibly difficult, impressive, or merely elegant to look at. when one can appreciate a good shot, one can begin to truly appreciate cricket.

They are, but confusingly enough, the 22-yard strip between the stumps is also called the 'wicket', as is any instance of a batsman being dismissed. You'll get used to it.

one month passes...

you can also put swing on a fast ball

and a well-executed yorker is an example of a good ball that does not bounce at all
