Excellent sujet.

I say we shoot the lot of them and drink ALL the wine!

Also, Little JP Nappy's face cracks me up.

Michael White, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 21:28 (sixteen years ago) link

Oops, that should read 'J-C Nappy'.

For those who do not speak French as fluently as M. White, I have taken the trouble to translate the French text accompanying the poll above. Because my own French is as wretched as the wretched of the earth, the actual translation was done by the machine translator offered by Google.

To wit:

Under what regime has been taken cooked the most spectacular? Under that it was the best drinking alcohol and wine? Under the people who took great pleasure to break? Under which have been had the greatest need to forget his own name?

"Under what regime do one go on the most spectacular benders? Under which were the best liquors and wines drunk? Under which did the people take the (most) pleasure in getting fucked up? Under which did one feel the greatest need to forget even unto one's own name?"

Michael White, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 14:29 (sixteen years ago) link

I've been cooked spectacularly - even oracularly - under the Bush dynasty, but I can't speak from experience about the Duck d'Orleans, the Louis times this many (holds up fingers and toes), or Mr. Buon-Buon Shortycakes. So, I'll vote based on the photos.

Obviously, it's that well-known goof-about-town, J-C Nappy, in a runaway.

Aimless, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 17:22 (sixteen years ago) link

The way it's looking these days, the other guys (and gal) look pretty shnockered. They're not even bothering to show their faces for the poll anymore. Nappy's only 22 or thereabouts, so maybe he just has more stamina, but I suspect he's actually surrepticiously tossing his horse-tranquilizer laden Lon Guyland Iced Teas into the shrubbery.

I've only been squiffy under 'The Wretch', so what do I know, though.

Also, where did Luis-Alfonso go? I hope he brings back some Bourbon.

Michael White, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 21:12 (sixteen years ago) link

Perhaps I should write a poem: The Bourbon's Return from the Package Shop.

The Bourbon returned from the package shop
A-sloshin' in me belly......

Et vint le Roi qui demanda
A toute l'assistance,
"C'est qui ce mec, qui me bois coup sec et ça jusqu'à la lie?"

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Butt out. This thread is for the unsystematic.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Saturday, 26 April 2008 23:01 (fifteen years ago) link

I am certain the poll results have been somewhat skewed by the lack of any buttons marked Vote or Clear in the original poll. This didn't bother me, but it may have been a bit bothersome to others.

I thought it was more an incitement to consideration than actual action

Matt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 09:13 (fifteen years ago) link

How dare you, Sir! Incitement to consideration?! Amongst this rabble?!

Michael White, Wednesday, 30 April 2008 18:57 (fifteen years ago) link

Well you didn't want to act did you? Ever see my Prospero? They had to evacuate three counties.
