Any objections to torrenting the hell out of this?

I can only speak for myself, but I have no objections. The more people that hear this the better!

snoball, Monday, 2 March 2009 19:34 (fifteen years ago) link

i have no problem with anybody doing anything with this

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 2 March 2009 19:51 (fifteen years ago) link

I just had a friend send me this:

without knowing you were on this i just clicked to download on Demonoid.

It's a sign!

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 06:18 (fifteen years ago) link

hahaha

In further news, Tom basically said "my DSL is crappy so fuck a 320 kbps". Want me to try twisting his arm?

Lots of praying with no breakfast! (HI DERE), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 17:13 (fifteen years ago) link

This is awesome!

jel --, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 17:27 (fifteen years ago) link

tell tom to stop whining and just send the goddamn file, the response should be lulzy

I'm not trying to be the bitrate nazi here, it would just be cool if we had 320kbs from everyone. you, elvis t, snoball + m bison all resubmitted 320kbs versions, I haven't heard anything from AleXTC or nabisco.

if I get any additional 320kbs versions I'll upload 'em to fairtilizer, and if by a miracle I get all the tracks at 320kbs I'll reup a new version to sendspace.

鬼の手 (Edward III), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 17:44 (fifteen years ago) link

Guys, shall I host this on my helpful webspace?

Mark G, Wednesday, 4 March 2009 11:17 (fifteen years ago) link

Is your site the one where the ILX comps are archived? Speaking for myself I think it would be a good idea.

snoball, Wednesday, 4 March 2009 11:40 (fifteen years ago) link

That's the one.

Mark G, Wednesday, 4 March 2009 11:41 (fifteen years ago) link

Personally I say go for it. Although you might have a lot of enraged U2 fans e-mailing you when they download it and it's not U2!

snoball, Wednesday, 4 March 2009 11:53 (fifteen years ago) link

I'll get it sorted.

Mark G, Wednesday, 4 March 2009 11:56 (fifteen years ago) link

mark, it's cool if you want to do this, the more places this is out there the better, but before you spend a bunch of time on it be aware that ppl can already download selective tracks from the fairtilizer stream.

鬼の手 (Edward III), Wednesday, 4 March 2009 13:58 (fifteen years ago) link

Ah, it'll just be one page, with pic and track links, format similar to pages already there.

Be about a week...

Mark G, Thursday, 5 March 2009 09:45 (fifteen years ago) link

I've had 'i'll go crazy...' going round in my head almost solidly for a whole day now. in a good way.

Yeah, some seriously catchy songs on here.

My new thing has been looking for No Line on the Horizon reviews and reading them as if the were done against this compilation.

the funny thing is I don't think I have heard the U2 version of "my" track entirely yet (I've heard a snippet in a commercial for ipods or something) and right now, I don't remember at all how it goes !

AlXTC from Paris, Saturday, 16 January 2010 17:42 (fourteen years ago) link

I've heard about half the chorus of "mine". It goes "get on your boots your sexy boots" or something. Haven't heard any of the other U2 tracks.

Also, yes, honoured to have been part of this.

an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Saturday, 16 January 2010 18:29 (fourteen years ago) link

we should do a reunion tour sometime !

AlXTC from Paris, Sunday, 17 January 2010 09:48 (fourteen years ago) link

ILX should do 1 of these a year.

Body Butter (a hoy hoy), Sunday, 17 January 2010 10:02 (fourteen years ago) link

But U2 only release an album every four years! We should e-mail Bono and get him to send us all U2's unused song titles so we can write piss take parodies.

an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Sunday, 17 January 2010 10:05 (fourteen years ago) link

Maybe whenever ILX Vol. 4 comes out, U2 can take our song titles and mock us instead with their own U2notILX project.

an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Sunday, 17 January 2010 10:06 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm listening to "our" album right now (some friends made me a vinyl edition... might sell well on ebay !).
still great !
is there a major artist/band album expected in the coming months ?

AlXTC from Paris, Sunday, 17 January 2010 10:09 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah I didn't mean just U2, like I dunno, the new album by a big act that sucks and deserves the ilx treatment. Red Hot Chili Peppers for ilx2010?

Body Butter (a hoy hoy), Sunday, 17 January 2010 10:25 (fourteen years ago) link

That's a good call. RHCP are probably the only other band/artist that ILX cares about enough to want to do this. In an interview Chad said it would be coming out October 2010. It's a bit far off but OTOH we'll have more time to prepare. And if they release another double album (the previous one had 28 tracks) then more people can get involved.

an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Sunday, 17 January 2010 10:49 (fourteen years ago) link

hum. it's a bit to far to be fun.
aren't there other big releases coming ?

AlXTC from Paris, Monday, 18 January 2010 22:14 (fourteen years ago) link

Big list here:
http://www.metacritic.com/music/upcomingreleases.shtml

The only one that sort-of catches my eye that is going to be released soon is Goldfrapp (release scheduled for 23rd March). But there's no track listing yet. And they're not really in the same league as Bono in the "desperately needing a kick in the pants" department. But if people still want to have at U2, then "Songs of Ascent" is due for mid 2010 release. Recorded at the same time as "No Line..." just the title says that it's going to be full of ripe Bono-isms.

an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 11:34 (fourteen years ago) link

aah, too bad white stripes is only a live... interpol maybe ?
there will certainly be great titles to work with !

AlXTC from Paris, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 11:46 (fourteen years ago) link

interpol would be fun, everyone should just do their best ian crutis impression over a variety of backing tracks (ian crutis does super fruity swag rap; ian crutis reads poetry over steve reich's "clapping music"; ian crutis does broadway!)

thank u 4 being a fiend (m bison), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 15:55 (fourteen years ago) link

ahah. sounds good ! but that would make it just a comedy project, wouldn't it ? (which somehow we managed to avoid with "no ilx").
I've just looked at their titles... there's some gold to expect !

AlXTC from Paris, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 16:20 (fourteen years ago) link

2 votes in favor of interpolling this bitch

thank u 4 being a fiend (m bison), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 16:37 (fourteen years ago) link

Poll a shortlist of Interpol, Goldfrapp, and U2?

an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 16:44 (fourteen years ago) link

Goldfrapp and Interpol are both waaaaaaaay to small-time to qualify for this, aren't they?

we should have done this with stadium arcadium, and dan should have done 'hump de bump'

There'll be a sudden Radiohead one, I reckons.

Mark G, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 16:56 (fourteen years ago) link

i would say interpol is big enough but only for the fact that many h-words will be looking 4 leakz and we can give them hi quality counterfeit goods
