I'm sitting in this glade, a lush, green world. A slow-moving stream is behind me, and old, moss-covered trees are all around me.

There isn't a major road or another person anywhere even close to me. Such tranquility, and I think to myself, this is exactly what I've been looking for, this place. But after a minute or so I ask myself, now what? What do I do with this? What happens now? Will anything be different?

No, I don't think anything will.

I was surprised by the lack of wildlife. I suppose they were off hiding where they wouldn't be molested by humans. I saw lots of elk hoofprints in the riverbed, though. I wish I could have seen the hooves that made those prints.

I saw a bald eagle soaring overhead.

Looks like that was taken from inside a cave, doesn't it? The reality is, it was taken from inside a tree. Stepping inside that tree was humbling. All sense of self is removed, and you realize that you're just another organism out in the woods.

The answer is that there is no answer.

Being enclosed in that tree's canopy was like being in Mother Nature's womb. The darkness was both frightening and reassuring.

When it was time for Her to beget me, a glorious world awaited.

After years of playing video games, my first instinct was to hop from one bridge to the next. It's a good thing I didn't, though, or I would have fallen into the water! And I would have had one angry duck to answer to.
