RIP Cheo Feliciano

He was too awesome for this news to be confined to the Latin music threads. One of the greatest vocalists ever, regardless of genre. His 1971 album Cheo is a must-hear, and his guest spots with the Fania All-Stars (like the one below, also featuring Jorge Santana of Malo, on guitar) are all-time.

Listened to that album over and over on repeat many times, like I was a kid again and owned only one album.

Where is the love for Cheo Feliciano?

every mainstream media obit is followed by 10,000 comments on the order of "guess he won't be 'lighting my fire' anymore haha" or "wait, there are two felicianos?"

just yesterday i bought a bunch of salsa records, including two of cheo's, but i had actually kind of forgotten that he had died just a few days ago. must have been my subconscious.

Still out of town for extended Easter break with Redd-in-laws so have no one to talk about this until tomorrow evening.

can you slap a cheo disc on the record player and get redd-in-laws to boogie down?

Ha, not likely.

Thread of still missing Cheo Feliciano. Mrs. Redd just asked who he was.

Oh no, she's not gonna start a "My husband James Redd's stupid record collection" blog, is she?

Ha, hope not.
