"snooze 4 love" and it's not even the tiniest bit close

lex pretend, Wednesday, 12 February 2014 21:15 (ten years ago) link

i think for me too but man what a run

max, Wednesday, 12 February 2014 21:16 (ten years ago) link

i sort of think that until "inspector norse" and then everything after that is at best adequate

lex pretend, Wednesday, 12 February 2014 21:18 (ten years ago) link

i only have seen him dj once but he tore shit up, was incredible, impossibly not to dance till 6am. i have this weird memory that it was in a shipping container? possibly i dreamed it

max, Wednesday, 12 February 2014 21:20 (ten years ago) link

i think i've seen him once on the same bill as lindstrøm in a proper club, and then once in norway for that weird improv thing he did with lindstrøm and diskjokke which was pretty awesome

lex pretend, Wednesday, 12 February 2014 21:23 (ten years ago) link

Snooze 4 Love should take this by some margin, despite his rather laudable consistency.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 12 February 2014 21:24 (ten years ago) link

I listen to "Strandbar (Disko)" more than any of them. "Snooze" is predictably overrated.

Eric H., Wednesday, 12 February 2014 21:26 (ten years ago) link

(While still being pretty great, obv.)

Eric H., Wednesday, 12 February 2014 21:27 (ten years ago) link

voting "bonysh" for finally stretching out the intro to "heart of glass" into an entire track and as token gesture of 'still prefer his edits and remixes'

balls, Wednesday, 12 February 2014 21:32 (ten years ago) link

"Snooze 4 Love" then a bunch of the edits, yeah, then not bothered really

Definitely "Balearic Incarnation (Todd Terje's Extra Doll Mix)", but of this lot, "Snooze".

disposable soma (Sanpaku), Thursday, 13 February 2014 21:47 (ten years ago) link

Why no "Swing Star (Parts 1+2)" option :(

'Inspector Norse' for me 'cause it can turn a room of people who've never heard anything else by Todd Terje into a room of euphoric grinning freak. 'Snooze' is awesome but feels way more retro to me.

ineloquentwow (Craigo Boingo), Saturday, 15 February 2014 01:19 (ten years ago) link

I hate to bust out this boogeyman, but "Snooze" is "academic."

Eric H., Saturday, 15 February 2014 04:59 (ten years ago) link

Killing For Love (Todd Terje Brokeback Mix) or the Superstition edit for me. Out of all these, Inspector Norse. Still can't figure out the hype behind Snooze 4 Love.

Balearic Incantation

I like all versions of this track tho prob the jean-luc ponty orig still shades it.

ragysh or his edit of superstition or snooze 4 love

Lamp, Thursday, 20 February 2014 06:58 (ten years ago) link

Ragysh by far, must have only played Snooze 4 Love a few times. The edits and remixes have some highlights too, Chris Rea particularly.

mmmm, Thursday, 20 February 2014 09:04 (ten years ago) link

This is really only down to Snooze 4 Love vs Inspector Norse for me

iTunes tells me I've played Snooze 4 Love 64 times and Inspector Norse 37 times.

I'm still tempted to vote for Inspector Norse for that moment at about 3:36 where everything... tilts and it all goes a bit ~COSMIC~ after the keychange... (trying to remember if Snooze 4 Love has an epic keychange? Nope. I'm a sucker for an epic keychange.)

Combat Herbaceous Intrusions (Branwell Bell), Thursday, 20 February 2014 11:30 (ten years ago) link

I never understood the love 4 Snooze 4 Love. That keychange in Inspector Norse is essence of Todd Terje for me.

When I googled how to pronounce his name it turned out that he gets asked that in every single interview and surely always will.

What is wrong with songs? Absolutely nothing. Songs are great. (DL), Thursday, 20 February 2014 11:36 (ten years ago) link

not so much borrowed from like a certain guy more it feels a lil rote funky disco groove rather than something he owns in his heart

lag∞n, Thursday, 20 February 2014 12:43 (ten years ago) link

like the true funk the funk that comes from within is more idiosyncratic

lag∞n, Thursday, 20 February 2014 12:44 (ten years ago) link

Whoa just realized that "Revelee (A Carl Craig Remix)" is actually not by Todd Terje!!! Crazy

Voting Bonysh instead because it sounds like "Can't Stop Won't Stop"

, Thursday, 20 February 2014 12:57 (ten years ago) link

The actual answer to this is his Dolle Jolle Balearic Incarnation remix, but in the absence of that then Snooze 4 Love.

probably will have to go for snooze, though i have nearly equal amounts of love for ragysh

he does have an awful lot of underrated nudisco gems like "eurodans" and "swing star pt 2" (maybe even "q"), not to mention the goofy charm of "reinbagan" and the understated beauty in "glittertind", which are better than their inevitable lack of votes in this poll will suggest

hug niceman (psychgawsple), Saturday, 22 February 2014 00:28 (ten years ago) link

Even I'm not sure if anything he does these days is "underrated."

Eric H., Saturday, 22 February 2014 06:09 (ten years ago) link

voted ragysh

camiño del sol rmx > ragysh, though

octobeard, Sunday, 23 February 2014 20:22 (ten years ago) link

Even I'm not sure if anything he does these days is "underrated."

those were mostly older tracks that don't get mentioned much, save for "swing star" i guess - which still feels pretty underrated in comparison to inspector norse

Since when? He released things in 2016 & 2017 and still DJing regularly as mentioned

groovypanda, Thursday, 11 June 2020 20:30 (three years ago) link

i've never seen an artist fall so hard. everything leading up to the album was (masterpiece alert) ...and the album was just half-assed goofball shit. contrasted with inspector norse which was transcendentally goofy

diamonddave85 (diamonddave85), Thursday, 11 June 2020 21:18 (three years ago) link

yeah 2016/17 was a while ago. just seems his output ratcheted down considerably compared to those years prior. good to know he’s still getting out there on the reg though.
