Chiming atmospheric music that's perfect for a snowy day

Trying to find the perfect soundtrack to the winter. Unfortunately, I live somewhere very warm and have to pretend it's cold outside. I wish I liked Terje Isungset more because he's everything I'm looking for...in theory. Any suggestions, folks?

It's more icily unsettling and mournful, but portions of the soundtrack from Orlando constitute a good, moody listening experience for me in winter.

Great recommendations so far. Does anyone know if Terje Isungset has any albums that are totally instrumental?

There is a winter thread devoted to Cold House by Hood which makes a strong case, I've tried but can't ever seem to get past the singing.

yeah, the singing is what ruins a couple of these for me. just want to be whisked away to a glacier, y'know.

man, low is the answer, especially if you're looking for music for a cold winter day. if you're looking for cold weather night-music, the list opens up, e.g., burial; dirty beaches; the sinking of the titanic; the disintegration loops; etc., etc.

This Pantha du Prince & The Bell Laboratory is almost exactly what I've been looking for. All I remember of Pantha du Prince is that he did a track or two with Panda Bear, which made me reluctant to further check him out. I know that's a really shitty way to go about listening to music, but I just find those guys so distasteful.

Anyway, thanks. You've opened my mind.

Lithops - umi unit has some gorgeous, warm and groovy tracks. along the same lines, Microstoria Model 3, Step 2 sets up an ultra-warm, fragmented, and melody-rich atmosphere - there's a strong plasticity and fluid quality of action to the sound structures.
