Earlier this year I posted this youtube clip in memory of British jazz drummer Tony Marsh, who had just passed away. (I got no replies, btw.) Now I'm posting it again in memory of the other person in the duo, Danish jazz saxophonist John Tchicai, who died today.

It was Bill and Archie Shepp who, upon meeting Tchicai in Copenhagen, encouraged John to move to the US.

oh shit, that's sad. Strange coincidence- for literally no reason at all this morning, I put on "Afrodisiaca". I hadn't been listening to music of that kind for a long while--it just sounded like the right thing to play.
