The most egregious examples of unconscious self-parody by artists

In Dwight MacDonald's anthology of parodies there are chapters on "Conscious Self-Parody" and "Unconscious Self-Parody" by famous writers. What followed when I read that was the natural ILM response of "All right! This would make a great subject for a list! I need to make a list! Where's a keyboard??"

So...any particularly memorable or favorite examples of artists bringing on the unconscious self-parody? John Fogerty's "Old Man Down the Road" lost him $$$ but in most cases self-respect is all that's required. You can even name some examples of artists consciously parodying themselves -- examples aren't coming to mind but we have people who can name names

agreed with Zachylon.

The worst example in my mind is The Human League's 1990 album: ROMANTIC?

I think there's a point where Everclear singles qualify, but I'm not sure where the cut-off point is.

What was the name of the thread from a few years ago, where people were saying how a genre is ready to die when a band comes around that almost seems to be a caricature of the genre? For instance someone said that Jet was almost a parody of garage rock revival, and that's when you knew the trend was over.

I remember realising Suede had really reached this point when they put out a single with a b-side called 'Pop Star'.
