i do not want to do a spotify anything because i'm not really a spotify kind of person. but this is a good song:

NOMEANSNO - THE TOWER

i know your nuts hurt! who's laughing? (contenderizer), Wednesday, 29 August 2012 00:12 (8 months ago) Permalink

I already have a Spotify playlist for my own tracks, and I might be able to flesh that out into a full listing, but not before the weekend. I'll give it a shot (have some irl issues going on atm). btw, do you want the Spotify playlist links in this YouTube ghetto, or in the voting thread?

Hellhouse, Wednesday, 29 August 2012 15:47 (8 months ago) Permalink

voting thread (or both)

thanks!

Anyone up for doing the albums spotify playlist?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 29 August 2012 19:24 (8 months ago) Permalink

how would a spotify playlist of 500+ albums be any more useful than spotify itself?

i know your nuts hurt! who's laughing? (contenderizer), Wednesday, 29 August 2012 19:26 (8 months ago) Permalink

because in previous polls it has shown that most people cba searching for albums and just listen to new order instead. But if the albums are in one place they will give it a listen inbetween new order albums.

Lol, that's what happens when I post without listening first. When I nominated "Dick Dogs", I was thinking of the version on Seize the Rainbow, having never heard this recording. This one's not bad though. Better drums on the StR version.

IN MEMORIAM

two great fucking all-time BADASS aussie rock tunes that i nominated for the tracks poll but were tragically omitted from the voting spreadsheet:

LIME SPIDERS - OUT OF CONTROL (would have been in my top 10)

hi-def, crank it

COSMIC PSYCHOS - LOST CAUSE

L7 rewrote it as "fuel my fire", as covered by the prodigy on the fat of the land. dumbass original is untouchable tho.

Thanks for the Skullfower clip, Hellhouse! I always suspected I was missing something by never really listening to them.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Thursday, 6 September 2012 03:25 (8 months ago) Permalink

glad you like it. the early records - Form Destroyer, Xaman, IIIrd Gatekeeper, Obsidian Shaking Codex and Last Shot at Heaven - are by far the best. after Last Shot at Heaven, they jettisoned most of the rock elements and tumbled into the bottomless pit of artistic onanism known as "free noise". the first three records in particular feature some of the best heavy psych I've ever heard, and are absolutely worth tracking down.

Hellhouse, Thursday, 6 September 2012 03:50 (8 months ago) Permalink

IIIrd Gatekeeper is amazing

THE FLUID - YOUR KINDA THING

have to admit that i'm somewhat embarrassed to be repping this. embarassed by the the relatively soft retro-rocking, still more embarrassed by the he-man heybaby vocals. probably should have nominated "cold outside" instead, as it's a little easier to defend, but goddam it, i like this song. so there.
