This might be that rare (?) gay anthem straight people like more than gay people.

a venerable old queen informed me some time ago that a kiki was "when queens get together, take drugs and fuck and gossip", urban dictionary doesn't exactly argue that point but

i had a terrible day at work yesterday, ate a gross, fatty lunch that was making me feel awful, but i put this on my headphones as i left the office at 5pm and let it repeat about 4 or 5 times. i was restraining myself from dancing by the time i got to my bus stop.

there's a few remixes floating around but they really take away everything loveable about the original--

i really just want a proper extended 12" version :(

also i started Murakami's Dance, Dance, Dance on a long flight Sunday and the narrator keeps trying to find a character named Kiki, then when i got home and turned on my DVR, DirecTV was suggesting that a schedule a recording of this (airing on TCM that night):

(not a direct parallel) but if scissor sisters (or some other groan-inducing band) had done a HAWAII LUAU themed song that every 3rd person was calling their summer jam, and when it came on at a party in hawaii and half the room lost their shit, i'd prob be sitting in the corner w/ my friends rolling my damn eyes, regardless of how hot the beat is

i'm not!!

as a hetero dude who enjoyed paris is burning the one time i saw it 8 years ago and loves 90s house, i am pretty unfamiliar w/ how much baggage yr average gay has to deal with wrt drag culture? that was my best shot at empathizing i guess.

Ok, that Videodrome Discotheque video justifies this stupid song's existence.

I wouldn't think about it THAT much. Most gays are caught in a spiral of loving and loathing things that seem somehow tailored to someone else's conception of "them," maybe even more so when it comes from people who can swap out "them" for "us." Gooble gobble, et al.

so is kiki a direct reference to/lift from this (http://www.out.com/entertainment/2011/11/15/bronx-drag-ball-scene-continues-thrive?page=0,0,) scene, or is that just a thing people say now?

ok, as someone who genuinely has some love for Scissor Sisters, i just don't like this at all, for as much as their whole schtick is re-working older gay and camp musical themes, this just is nowhere near as good as this
