i love her music so much. her interpretations of folk songs and singer-songwriter stuff is often extraordinary. she completely abandons the melody to jim webb's do what you gotta do, which in most cases would be a ridiculous affront (b/c it's such a beautiful melody) but she manages to do something almost equally gorgeous with it. i am still warming up to her new album, it seems a bit less distinguished than the debut, but give me a few years and see what i think then.
how old is meg? weird question, but it's hard to tell from photographs. mid-30s?

I think younger than that. When I first saw her play in Philly she was a teenager (I think), that would've been just before the Espers started.

I really like the 2nd record, I guess the first was more consistent

I'd be plenty thankful for introducing me to Fraser & Debolt alone but rly it's her version of 'Waltze of the Tennis Players' that sticks with me. Haven't given the second album as much time as I should've yet, maybe I resent her having such effortless power over me, not many people around whose voice hits me like hers.

there's a new baird sisters LP on grapefruit records out now (or soon). little bit annoying that it's vinyl only though, i'm not set up for that right now, and would like to pay for mp3s or something. second meg album wasn't quite as good as the first one, but the first one definitely set a pretty high standard. one of my favorites from the 00s.

Anybody have any of the stuff from when she was still in Clock Strikes Thirteen? Is she audible on the Clientele / Clock Strikes Thirteen split?
