AEROSMITH - MUSIC FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION (2012)

i know our dear friend Steven Tyler doesn't like us to draw too much attention to the fact that he posts to the board or involve him in discussions of his day job, but i hope he will participate in this thread about the new album out in August, and the Get A Grip outtake "Legendary Child" that was debuted as the album's lead single on last night's American Idol finale:

some dude, Thursday, 24 May 2012 17:54 (1 year ago) Permalink

the other dimension is people who still watch/care about "american idol" right?

fapper don (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 24 May 2012 17:55 (1 year ago) Permalink

this is a thread about Aerosmith and American Idol is the thing you're gonna make "lol that is so last year" jokes about?

some dude, Thursday, 24 May 2012 17:57 (1 year ago) Permalink

as opposed to, say, Steve Tyler jokes

Get A Grip outtake

God we were such a good band once. And now I'm fucking rich, and we're ripping off Gang of Four of all people, somebody slap me this can't even be real

legendary child is pretty good!

steven, i wish you would have taken better care of your voice, it hurts me to say that to such an esteemed ilxor.

we didn't give a....wo-ah, wooo-ah...woaah!

woah gang of four coined the phrase "get a grip"? had no idea

some dude, Thursday, 24 May 2012 18:18 (1 year ago) Permalink

So I guess they were warming up by playing "The Wanton Song" and just decided to neuter, add a lamer chorus and call it a day.

grandavis, Thursday, 24 May 2012 18:20 (1 year ago) Permalink

Uh, "neuter it".

haha wtf at blatant Zep ripoffery

Roger Barfing (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 24 May 2012 18:24 (1 year ago) Permalink

They must have thought that "The Wanton Song" is such a deep cut that no one would notice. Didn't they see the results of the poll?

"It's pushed back because too many people are releasing those weeks, and we don't want to step on their release dates," said Tyler. "So we said, 'You know what, we got the goods, ain't no doubt about [it], we'll wait a couple months.'"

imo a LOT of Joe Perry solos are kinda random and cool sounding, he has this rep as whatever blooze rocker Keith Richards wannabe etc. but so often his tone and his note choices are really left field and interesting to me.

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 18:49 (6 months ago) Permalink

"beautiful" has sort of that alternating rock/blues workout verses and psychedelic chorus that they've done on a few songs, i'm sure. only one i can remember is "sunshine" which means i'm the only person who has ever remembered "sunshine"

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Tuesday, 6 November 2012 18:52 (6 months ago) Permalink

okay "tell me" is legitimately a very good psychedelic beatles-ish ballad. more evidence that you should let the bassist write the songs
