i said sun ra! good idea tho. grace jones too. should be posed as in THAT PICTURE, w microphone and blue display stand/wall.

there has to have been an mf doom doll though, right? like, i'm sure cartoon network or somebody has made one. if not, they are sleeping on their responsibilities and need to wake the fuck up.

Metal bands also provide lots of content apt for action figures:

Anna from Sopor Aeternus
Birdflesh
Ghoul
Green JellŸ
Gwar
Manowar
Portal

There's also Momoiro Clover Z. I'm pretty sure there's better examples in Japan but their whole look seems completely lifted from mazinger z / power rangers / sailor moon.

And of course: Hevisaurus!

There totally already is an Aphex Twin action figure. It was Windowlicker Aphex IIRC.

(posts very much in character.)

Ok just checked and apparently there's a Madvillain action figure and it's as perfect as I imagined:

Happy to see there's already kraftwerk and devo figurines! Also double checked and you're right Daft Punk has action figures. Loads of different ones, even as legos.. The rest haven't been done as action figures but I found this cute White Stripes finger puppets:

Shit it seems my hevisaurus image is heavy indeed and is making the page load slowly.

The collectibles company Aggronautix is releasing their very first female throbblehead, Wendy O. Williams “1982″,

Wendy is the sixth punk personality to be polyresinated by Aggronautix. In May of 2009, the company launched with a
highly popular GG Allin “1991″ figure, which was limited to 2000 numbered units. That figure has since sold out…
or you could say, in words suiting GG, it “expired.”

Looking at the Bobbleheads site, there are categories for movies, television, politics, cartoons, religion, military, but none for music/rock stars. Lame!

Some of the suggestions above are entertaining, but would never, ever happen as they're far too obscure for most toy companies to mass market, as most people wouldn't recognize them. I suppose someone could start a boutique shop that puts out limited editions that would cost hundreds of dollars, but, meh.

A good friend of mine named her cats Iggy and Angus last year. We rescued a cat last month and named him Ozzy. I'm still thinking Lemmy and Bootsy are the next best names after that. She was given this Iggy doll for her birthday, which inspired me to start this thread.

I considered getting her this, but it's a bit pricey:

Fastnbulbous, Thursday, 29 March 2012 15:33 (1 year ago) Permalink

Kinda funny how the Iggy doll is the 50+ year-old version (he's 64 now and is way more wrinkly/leathery).

I'd personally rather have Ozzy, Lemmy and Bootsy before Jimmy Page, and most of the list before Kurt Cobain, but I can see how the above would sell better.

Remember the Bongwater song about Nick Cave dolls? "They make Nick Cave dolls? I want one..."

I want an Aphex Twin action figure with the accessories of a group of disabled people playing volleyball, based on the shit Mike Skinner was talking about him recently.

viborg, Thursday, 29 March 2012 15:44 (1 year ago) Permalink

That Kurt Cobain doll is not scaled right. Kurt was actually 5'7", not 6'4"

And yeah, Prince really did wear those chaps.

I took it as which icons would make cool-looking action figures/dolls not which icons would make the best-selling figures. I'm assuming people don't know any of them. If you want to change the question to best-selling figures then (and assuming they haven't been done yet):

Beyonce
Coldplay
Lady Gaga
Radiohead
Katy Perry
Snoop Dogg
Rihanna
Black Eyed Peas
Brandon Flowers
Eminem
The Beatles
Muse
Pink Floyd
Queen
Led Zeppelin

Moka, Monday, 2 April 2012 06:37 (1 year ago) Permalink

yes, thought about Diamanda Galas!
but her figure should have some functional sound module for distinctional reasons (Maila Nurmi/Vampira, Morticia Jones and so on)

calling.....Chris & Cosey (twice the price, a lot of LED blinking hardware as stage set)

meisenfek, Monday, 2 April 2012 07:01 (1 year ago) Permalink

It would be great if you could pull a string in Diamanda's back and she'd start chanting in multi-octave Latin.

I watched the Lemmy documentary last night, and he had a kick-ass figure of himself, still in the box amidst all his clutter. It looked cooler than the all silver/gold/black versions posted above. Must be long gone to the land of collector scum now.

This one looks to me like King Diamond, if he was barrel-chested like the abomidable snowman in Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer:
