EMMURE and the New Bonehead-ism

I'm starting this thread because I think I'm the only person on ILM who actually likes Queens-based deathcore simians Emmure. I know to bring them up on the Rolling Metal thread is to open oneself up to scorn and ridicule, but fuck that - I voted their album Speaker of the Dead into my Pazz & Jop Top Ten for 2011, and their new one Slave to the Game is even better. If you're not familiar with them, they're kind of nu-metal minus the turntables and with an addiction to ultra-downtuned breakdowns and crazy, chest-thumping macho/misogynistic lyrics (plus insane imagery drawn from video games and '80s cartoons). They seem like idiots, and frontman Frankie Palmeri may well be insane (he posts some pretty lunatic shit on the band's Facebook page from time to time, and has worked out this elaborate cosmology wherein he compares himself to Thanos, the 1970s Marvel Comics knockoff of Darkseid), but they're really popular with youngsters. I feel like they're the current generation's Limp Bizkit (with dashes of Deftones in their more sensitive moments, like on 2009's Felony), for good or ill.

Honestly, I'd never heard them before. It's not bad - nu-metal minus the turntables is pretty apt - but not my thing at all. Thanks for the clips just the same.

Yeah I don't really have a whole lot to add other than these guys are totally not up my alley, but I've heard much worse.
