imo five-percenter stuff doesn't have to be believed literally to be useful

a helpful reminder that white people are the creation of an evil scientist is good from time to time

mh 😏, Thursday, 20 October 2016 21:31 (seven years ago) link

I wish I had been created by a scientist in the Caucus mountains
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her

I don't understand anything you guys are on about anymore. Go back to AB again.

i dunno man i feel pretty stoked that i was created by an ancient scientist to rule the world by trickery and deceit

5%-er bullshit is just as funny as kabbalah bullshit, or people who are super deep into Norse paganism, or any of the rest of it. To me, it's no different (and no less sad) than if somebody told me with a straight face that they were a Jedi. That said, "tricknology" is one of my favorite words ever.

Just a reminder that Russell Crowe is also 'crazy' and once plead guilty to second degree assault. Hardly 'civilized' behaviour either. It sounds like he got his shit together, though, which Azealia Banks also needs to do.

Frederik B, Thursday, 20 October 2016 21:42 (seven years ago) link

Maybe Crowe was actually filming a new episode of fightin roun the world?

thx for the reminder

I keep seeing this thread title and thinking it's going to be about Azalia Snail.

I was about to post this and then I thought "I wonder if I have posted this in this thread before" and indeed I have.

RZA is "slightly racist"? Good grief, Moka, the mess you made here... Smdh

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 20 October 2016 22:03 (seven years ago) link

if you think moka is wrong to object to five percenter ideology just disagree with her like a human being. the moralistic condescension thing is getting pretty old around here.

Treeship, Thursday, 20 October 2016 22:11 (seven years ago) link

there there

*-* (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 20 October 2016 22:12 (seven years ago) link

Sorry for bringing RZA into this thread and making a mess out of it. You asked me why I thought he was a little excentric and there I said it and suddenly this becomes a race and religion thread and that's just a fucking bore... let's move on and sorry about that... next time just ignore me. I actually think RZA is very intelligent and didn't meant to say that I find him a tad crazy as a racial slur neither was I trying to dumb him down. Relax.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 20 October 2016 22:20 (seven years ago) link

Going back to Azealia Banks: I was on her facebook page just an hour ago and she posted first that Crowe spit on her and a second post that said 'spitting is not self defense' but erased them. I guess she wont back down.

I think its not only fair but a downright necessity to call out anyone who claims "reverse racism" exists. It doesn't. There is no such thing. That's not "moralistic condescension", something you seem to be fed up with. Which is very convenient for you, guessing you are white, to get tired of. But "reverse racism" is actually a dangerous myth affecting actual non-white *human beings* in their every day lives that should not be perpetuated, or worse, be propagated casually like on this thead.

I value Moka as a poster and a person, and truly believe she did not intend to cause harm. She apologized as well, and that's end of story as far as I'm concerned. But if you perceive calling someone out on reverse racism bullshit as "moralistic condescension", that is on you.

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 20 October 2016 23:02 (seven years ago) link

you could have said that instead of "the mess you've made here... Smdh."

Treeship, Thursday, 20 October 2016 23:10 (seven years ago) link

Yeah well I'm far from perfect and seemingly needed your remark to be able to state what I meant.

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 20 October 2016 23:14 (seven years ago) link

Importantly, RZA does not know the difference between 'rationale' and 'rationality'; this calls everything into question

Also thanks Treeship! Look guys maybe I'm wrong or not seeing the full picture at thinking the 5% thing is kind of wack maybe it's not but if you don't explain me why and just make fun of me then I end up scratching my head without knowing what ignorant shit i just said.

Anyhoo deeply sorry and meant no harm, next time just ignore me or school me and please dont fight with one a other.

wtf does this mean

donut, Friday, 21 October 2016 11:42 (seven years ago) link

referring to black people in terms of being "civilized" or not carries different baggage. maybe worse baggage. idk.

bong

in twelve parts (lamonti), Friday, 21 October 2016 18:56 (seven years ago) link

Dude you're the one who brought race to the conversation I was saying crazy civilized since when is civilized a word that means white people? It didn't cross my mind at all and you wont make me feel like I was being 'accidentally racist' because I wasn't being racist at all. Civilized crazy was a way of saying I dunno 'normal crazy' like a person that says or acts crazy from time to time but not in a menacing way that required psychiatric help.

I don't appreciate you calling me racist when you're the one who was thinking about weird stuff. Get offended from your thoughts all you want but dont fucking spread them on me.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Friday, 21 October 2016 19:00 (seven years ago) link

ahh the grand ilx tradition of "piling on"

brimstead, Friday, 21 October 2016 19:02 (seven years ago) link

when is civilized a word that means white people?

Generally this is how it was used for most of the colonial period where Europe was invading and colonizing other places! I get this is not how you meant it. I am not getting offended by "my own thoughts," I'm pointing out this is generally loaded language when used to refer to classes of people in the United States. If you didn't mean it that way, cool. I meant the language you kept using definitely codes as racist here. I have no idea what your intentions are, but you've made them clear (and then again)

mh 😏, Friday, 21 October 2016 19:08 (seven years ago) link

"you're saying stuff that really sounds racist" isn't "omg burn the racist" btw

mh 😏, Friday, 21 October 2016 19:08 (seven years ago) link

Ok then next time I'll say crazy-not-crazy

✖✖✖ (Moka), Friday, 21 October 2016 19:09 (seven years ago) link

the antonym of civilized is savage. there are definite connotations when you used the term civilized with reference to people of colour in the english language.

angsplaining

*-* (jim in vancouver), Friday, 21 October 2016 19:14 (seven years ago) link

they have a lot to 'splain for

mh 😏, Friday, 21 October 2016 19:15 (seven years ago) link

Even then I see how the word might sound racist but context is important for it to sound racist and you implied terrible things to be honest. In your mind I was saying RZA is cool because he acts white while Azealia acts black. Like wtf you seriously thought that was what i was saying!?

✖✖✖ (Moka), Friday, 21 October 2016 19:17 (seven years ago) link

not consciously

mh 😏, Friday, 21 October 2016 19:19 (seven years ago) link

btw throughout all of this I'm thinking "man, Russell Crowe acted really restrained for an australian" so we all have biases to fight

mh 😏, Friday, 21 October 2016 19:20 (seven years ago) link

Not unconsciously either I could have said the same thing about Russell Crowe and you wouldnt be calling me racist. I know what I meant you're not making me feel like I wronged anyone.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Friday, 21 October 2016 19:21 (seven years ago) link

And no I'm not biased because we dont think in terms of race in my country since we dont have racial struggles. We struggle with economic differences since the middle class is almost nonexistent and sexism (including homophobia in there) I know it's something that might sound unreal to you but yeah here you can be in a room with people of many colors and noone is actively thinking about it. We don't tiptoe around you'll know when someone wants to offend you and I have never in 30 years heard someone angry use racial slurs.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Friday, 21 October 2016 19:34 (seven years ago) link

what magical unicorn of a country are you from that has literally zero racial struggles

laraaji p. henson (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 21 October 2016 19:45 (seven years ago) link

also mh no amt of reasoning is going to get through to moka if their definition of racism is "actively thinking about race" and "using racial slurs"

laraaji p. henson (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 21 October 2016 19:46 (seven years ago) link

Alright then I'm a terrible racist, ban me and get this over with I'm bored with this conversation.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Friday, 21 October 2016 19:58 (seven years ago) link

ok moka you are dumb this isn't a cultural difference

every country has racial struggles. and you're a hispanophone no? trying to think of the spanish speaking country that isn't deeply racist ... can't.

*-* (jim in vancouver), Friday, 21 October 2016 20:04 (seven years ago) link

if you're in spain: my dad was called a sudaca when we were on holiday in spain when i was a child

if you're anywhere in latin america: I've heard anti-indigenous slurs in every latin american country I've been in

*-* (jim in vancouver), Friday, 21 October 2016 20:06 (seven years ago) link

i just want to say i am sorry my love of five percent slang contributed to this
