Yah this is rlly good.

Is it just me or is Hot Natured going in a kind of (smoothed out) The Present Lover direction on some of its releases? (see also Waifs & Strays)

present lover was immed. what i thought of. there's something like that really, really faint keyboard part in 'what good' in this song too

8 months pass...

is it fair to say i am probs the only person on here that likes 'infinity'

i don't deny it's a p silly song, a trifle even, but i guess what i am getting at is the abiding conviction these guys (meaning hot creations fam) are as it were talking my language, which is a feeling i really don't have with the sort of house that floats the general ilm boat

feel free to point and laugh obv

(and yeah ok if you happen to feel like i am disguising already-resolved contempts of court with a "is it just wickle old me" post there then i salute your percipience)

I like "infinity"! I prefer "house of infinity" though.

Tim F, Friday, 21 September 2012 10:31 (8 months ago) Permalink

oh yeah totes but that one is more objectively great, like if you don't "get" it you're a moron whereas with infinity it strikes me as something to chew on

yeah I'm sympathetic to this line of argument.

People hating on Hot Creations is like either some mnml ssgs thing or some m clark thing and either way I'm a bit whatever the low-energy version of rmde is.

Tim F, Friday, 21 September 2012 11:20 (8 months ago) Permalink

I've never been mad keen on Hot Creations bar the occasional Lee Foss track, same goes for some of Crosstown Rebels, Seth Troxler etc. There are always tracks here and there I like but as a general sound I usually find myself wishing it could be either more spangly and disco OR more druggy.

Matt DC, Friday, 21 September 2012 11:28 (8 months ago) Permalink

I will admit to have not actively seeked much out for a year or so though.

Matt DC, Friday, 21 September 2012 11:29 (8 months ago) Permalink

really should get around to this miguel campbell album but his big single was the least impressive big hot creations single last year for me

lex pretend, Friday, 21 September 2012 11:31 (8 months ago) Permalink

'something special'? that took me a long while but suddenly it went from gnawing repetition to magnificent in a way i still find difficult to explain

don't really feel like that album will be any good but i'll be interested to figure out if and how it fits

r|t|c, Friday, 21 September 2012 11:44 (8 months ago) Permalink

yeah. it was okay but my benchmarks are things like "keep my cool" and "your everything"

mm yeah see for me even while they might have some lame tracks i still feel like it's basically my bowl of porridge

On this tip, I adore Waifs & Strays' "Feel" from late last year:

this was p cool

the og vocal version... erm i am still thinking about

r|t|c, Friday, 21 September 2012 11:52 (8 months ago) Permalink

Can I also shamelessly promote this tune, which turns a snatch of Madonna's vocal on "Deeper & Deeper" into some kind of harbinger of the apocalypse:

Tim F, Friday, 21 September 2012 12:14 (8 months ago) Permalink

yeah that's sick

r|t|c, Friday, 21 September 2012 12:21 (8 months ago) Permalink

funnily enough mention of the color of pomegranates on ile led me to watch the vid for 'bedtime story' for madonna which then led me back here to say.... uh idk what but it all felt very on-trend

lex pretend, Friday, 21 September 2012 12:45 (8 months ago) Permalink

though off that album it's "sanctuary" that's begging to be repurposed in some fashion right now

lex pretend, Friday, 21 September 2012 12:46 (8 months ago) Permalink

oh snap xp

r|t|c, Friday, 21 September 2012 12:47 (8 months ago) Permalink

weird thing is the original is actually more appropriate

r|t|c, Friday, 21 September 2012 12:59 (8 months ago) Permalink

bloody hell i had not realised the "knee deep in louise" sample was from "deeper and deeper"

lex pretend, Friday, 21 September 2012 13:07 (8 months ago) Permalink

they should sell the a cappella for ten bucks a pop on beatport, so many good potential samples - imagine a kinda creepy alto singing "daddy couldn't be more wrong!" over terrible, gay, awful, homo, house, music.
