Doomsday Student slayed. Three friends and I agreed that they are the best of the post-Arab on Radar-bands. We also agreed that we miss Arab on Radar.

best new (relatively) hardcore I've heard in a minute - LONG PIGS from Brooklyn who are just complete OTT chaos on their 7" - there is a lot of that kind of thing right now I suppose but they do it really powerfully

I saw them the other night with Surgeons, Nasa Space Universe, Crazy Band, Forever Baby, BRANES, The Garden, The Coltranes, and Meow Twins. Everyone but Crazy Band and Meow Twins fucking ANNIHILATED the evening. Meow Twins were good, but not as apeshit crazy as everyone else. Man, that show was a test of endurance.

yeah they are weirdly equal parts noize abrasion and hummable accessibility, almost like some 80s LA new wave theater type band with the theatrical starkness and artpop

if you'd actually deny good, hardworkings bands the chance to reach bigger audiences, sell more tickets & albums just because yr like "ooh indie rock has cooties" that's profoundly stupid.

but i guess i dunno i'm from the 90s when bands like Cows or Jesus Lizard could sell out big clubs and shit so

it would be awesome if those bands got more attention! I'm saying it's not likely to happen.
