Elvis Telecom's remark, from Spacemen 3 - The Perfect Prescription poll:

Difficult to not go with WWJ for just how different it can be played and still work... garage rock mayhem, minimal drone, gospel cavalcade, etc. etc.

Went with the FUCKED UP INSIDE version. I'll probably be the only one.

i was at the show as it was recorded in Los Angeles. true-fully i don't remember much about that night expect it was phenomenal for music, Medicine, Curve and the Jesus and Mary Chain.

I'm probably the only person who thinks this, but the lyrics fit really well with this:

Well, I, got around to think about what Jesus said to me... etc. has exactly the right rhythm

I was almost going to say "um wrong thread?" but yes..

In fact, I can hear old Uncle Ray doing more of those sorts...

"Well, I think that I'm in love but it could be just that I'm hungry
I think I might be your friend but then again I'm feeling lonely
Now you've got me in a spin but then again I'm prob'ly turning
I want to be your fool and tell you that I know that I'm just learning
to be......."

The raw demo on "Losing Touch..." is just awesome, and gets my vote.

There's a lot of good things to be said about Spiritualized, obv., but the way they play Spacemen 3 songs is rarely one of them. WWJ should just flow... once you've heard the first few bars, you should know how it's going to sound for as many minutes as it goes on for. I'm not keen on J's latter day attempts to turn it into a Spiritualized song, with quiet bits, loud bits, shifts in intensity... That works fine on many Spiritualized songs, but that wasn't what Spacemen 3 were about for me. WWJ should be about the plateau, not the rush.

Tempted to go for Fucked Up Inside too - the avalanche of sound that comes in halfway through is WTF.The only thing is the Forged Prescriptions version.... bliss.

Kinda agreed with you Ian, but ignoring that the sheer whoomph when the chorus hits on some of the boots I have is spectacular.

Anyone else seeing Spiritualized at the RAH tomorrow?

I'm not going leftfield on you... (hypehat), Monday, 10 October 2011 15:48 (twelve years ago) link

Went with the FUCKED UP INSIDE version. I'll probably be the only one.

am really tempted to vote for this offhand, but need to refresh my memory on a few of these...

which one is it where Jason subs the words "I can't stand this life without all of these things" with "sweet heroin"? wanna say it's Live in Europe, but need to double check. not sure if that's on any of the others...
