Artists with remix/production work by Orbital and/or William Orbit and/or The Orb

It's confusing because sometimes W. Orbit and The Orb, esp in the early days, would call their remixes "Orbital Mix", and then the band Orbital came around and worked with some of the same people and just started mass confusion. I think we should catalog all instances of this for future generations.

Madonna:
William Orbit did some remixes for her in the early 90's (namely "Justify My Love (Orbit 12" Mix)", which is really incredible), and then later produced Ray of Light and then a few singles/album track contributions after that.

Orbital did a one-off remix of the song "Bedtime Story", and it's also really great bcz, I mean, Orbital + mid-90's Madonna, OMG

Kraftwerk:
William Orbit did a remix of "Radioactivity" featured on a 1991 remix maxi. I think it might have been promoting The Mix which came out around the same time, but this is purely speculation.

Orbital, almost a decade later, contributed a remix of "Expo 2000" to the Expo Remixes single. It near-flawless, and pretty much a career highlight of their post-Electric Cafe work, and they ought to be really embarrassed they didn't come up with it themselves.

Yellow Magic Orchestra:
Interestingly enough, YMO's 1992 remix compilation High Tech / No Crime, which I know nothing about, features remix work by both The Orb ("Tong Poo (The Orb Remix I)") and Orbital ("Behind The Mask (The Orbital Remix)").

This is astonishing! We (I) have found a single release with the involvement of two of our subjects. Let's see if we can find more!

Meat Beat Manifesto
Orbital produced remixes for two tracks from MBM's Satyricon album in 1992. They contributed "Edge Of No Control (Take Control - Orbital Reply)" on the "Edge Of No Control" single (and also the Japanese relese of their Satyricon album), and also the "Mindstream (Mind The Bend The Mind)" remix on the "Mindstream" single and Australian Tour EP

The Orb had a remix called "Radio Babylon (Beach Blanket Bimbo Land)" that appeared on a 1997 12" and then again later that year on the Original Fire rarities/remixes/b-sides compilation. In 2002, they were featured on the RUOK? album track "House of Jericho".

I have a creeping feeling that no one finds this at all interesting except for me

Jimmy Cauty of the KLF was a founding member of The Orb, and did that "Doctorin' The Tardis" thing as the Timelords, heavily sampling the Dr Who theme. Orbital did a song which heavily sampled the Dr Who theme on that one album. I think the version I have has two versions actually.

I coulda sworn two of these three planned some sort of collaboration at some point that eventually fell through, but I can't seem to find anything about it.

you'd have thought that the shamen would be one band that all had some involvement with.
of course, orbital was involved with en-tact era, but so far cant find any orb/orbit remixes which given the sheer number of remixes the shamen released is quite something.

Apparently WO did a remix of "Hyperreal"?

The Shamen
The US release of 1990 album En-Tact contains a mix from both Willaim Orbit, with "Hyperreal (Orbit - Early Fade)", and Orbital, with "Hear Me O My People (Mix by Orbital)"

We've found yet another release with two out of three!

hurrah.
good spot. (i did try .. )
its kind of weird that they were into their dub-electronica groove and never called upon dr alex for a mix.
another gang would be PWEI : same period, same love for remixes.
i know they were remixed by the orb for the remix album (http://www.discogs.com/Pop-Will-Eat-Itself-Two-Fingers-My-Friends/release/65983), but so far been unable to find any orbital/orbit mixes.

Nothing from PWEI. I'm really impressed we came up with 5 or 6, though!

I did think Beth Orton's album she did with William Orbit ended up as a dry-run for the Madonna one.

I can certainly attest to this confusion. For example, back in 1997 I bought this compilation, which has one track with an "Orbital Mix" and another one with an "Orbital Remix", but the the first one is Orbital and the second one by The Orb.

Here's a Wendy & Lisa remix 12" featuring William Orbit and The Orb (with Youth), but googling isn't finding me any Orbital connections:
http://www.discogs.com/Wendy-Lisa-Re-Mix-In-A-Carnation/release/86933

Never heard it, I was actually looking up someone else I thought might be a connection (but it seems isn't) when that came up.

This thread has made me realise that an "Orbital remix" of Sun Electric I'd thought for years was by Orbital is actually by the Orb.

Did they 'desist' using "Orbital" as a remix monika?

They both became 'famous' around the same time, The Orb slightly ahead.
