Hailing from Sacramento, California, Death Grips was formed in late 2010 and consists of vocalist Stefan Burnett and production team Zach Hill & Andy Morin. The live setup consists of Burnett on vocals, Morin on keyboards and Hill on drums.

New album is sicccc of course, but total lack of samples means it's a little less destructive/corrosive as the first. Still some bangers on thurr

Kills me I can't go to the non-Coachella show here! Argh, next time.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 15:57 (twelve years ago) link

The album's loads of fun, but I confess that I gravitate much more towards the surprisingly poppy tunes ("Get Got," "I've Seen Footage," "Hacker")

Simon H., Wednesday, 18 April 2012 02:28 (twelve years ago) link

i was just trolling -- i don't really like this band but it's really not my thing, that said "i seen footage" but anything that rips "push it" would be

can't remember when i last found a record as hard to make through as exmilitary

liberté, égalité, beyoncé (lex pretend), Wednesday, 18 April 2012 10:02 (twelve years ago) link

I find it very mood-dependent. Before reviewing the new one I listened to Exmilitary again while I was out in town in a foul mood and it felt like someone jamming a sharpened pencil into my ear. Then got stuck into the new one over the next couple of days and got into it straight away. Can't remember the last time my own reactions to a record have been so polarised from one day to the next.

And I have been called "The Appetite" (DL), Wednesday, 18 April 2012 10:56 (twelve years ago) link
