Chin Chin: RFI/C/D

The list referred to in the Indie Defined At Last! thread gave me a couple of Bands You'd Forgotten experiences. One of these bands was Chin Chin, whom I now vaguely remember as one of three Swiss bands I'd heard about in the late 80's (the others were Yello and, um, Double). Probably this came from reading about them in an NME live review or something. Now, the list describes them as "Drum machine punk-pop. Marvelous girls sing in charming accents", which sounds reasonably fab. Does anyone have more information, and would you rate them as C or D?

3 years pass...
I bought their album (more of a mini-album - think it only has 6 tracks) because it was on 53rd and 3rd Records which was enough for me at the time. I played it to death and thought they were the bees knees. I haven't played it in years and it now languishes in my parents attic.

I also saw them live round about the time the album came out. Two gothic-type girls with guitars (no bass) and a drum machine. It was quite refreshing. Really good in fact. Proper songs and everything.

Some (all?) of their discography was reissued a couple of years ago, on Slumberland I think?

they had 3 releases, the 7" and LP got reissued in 2010

We Don't Wanna Be Prisoners 7" 1984
Sound Of The West Way LP 1985
Stop! Your Crying 12" 1986

for bonus confusion they had a career compilation also called stop! your crying which came out in 1987

Yeah, I have the Slumberland reissue of Sound of the Westway, bloody great. 'Dark Days' is on regular rotation in my DJ sets.
