I was trying to book Anti-Pop Consortium for a show at my school and today (july 29 at 5pm) I found out that they are breaking up. This occurance will be announced tomorrow. I am not at all an expert or even a devoted fan of undie hiphop, but this seems like a real loss to me. they seemd to be putting out much more interesting productions than most of their contemporaries in the underground. what do you think?

I was hoping A Perfect Circle called it quits.

sorry for the confusion.

Chaki = mean. What, you want Maynard to only be in Tool or something? ;-)

Was any reason for the breakup given?

no reason was given, but it should probably be explained by whatever is being released tomorrow. I never expect a straight answer to the question "why?" reagarding breakups... I'm sure it will be "artistic differences" or "irreconcilable differences" or something like that.

It was certainly a surprise receiving the email, as I had, before reading the email that gave me the aforementioned news, written an email to certain people at my school that attempted to defend my choice of APC as a group to book after receiving an email describing APC and Cannibal Ox as the "freaks" of undie hiphop. oh well.

they're as split up as they've ever been, every APC EP/LP has had solo productions, predelictions.. if they announce a "split" then it's prob to cover their backs what with them each releasing long- delayed solo projects soon: Priest's "sonics for the youth", Beans "tomorrow right now", the ESP dub project, even talk of a Earl Blaize LP too. think of APC as brand name rather than band name. this is the logical next step.
