everclear performing "santa monica" on snl was memorable, so bad they didn't get asked back for a second song

Everclear performed a second song in dress rehearsal, titled "Heartspark Dollarsign," but it was cut before the live broadcast.

Actually, I think Nagle assaulted MES with a hotel phone.
Regardless, Mark's the one that the NYPD decided to slam in the Tombs for the weekend.

you are testing my resolve, snoball

Nagle hit MES with the phone, then he hit her later on, according to the Youtube comments. Obviously a hard girl, hence a fucking excellent foil for our main dude. Helped that she was a freakin' keyboard wizard who fully understood what the Fall were capable of

That Fred Durst always makes me laugh so much. The first time I saw it I thought it was one of those 'shreds' videos. Knowing it's real makes it even more hilarious.

SNL did this a bit in the mid/late 90s with 'new' acts. A second song would get cut in favor of some usually terrible skit in the garbage dump back 30. The exceptions would be really established acts or somebody who was really huge ATM. I seem to recall Aerosmith getting THREE songs in '97 (a new one, "Sweet Emotion" and "Big 10 Inch Record") a couple weeks after Veruca Salt got stuck with just doing a post-"Volcano Girls" single that flopped.

I know the Stones are supposed to be a good live band, but even on a "pro" recording like this one sounds to my ears like they're constantly out of time, tune, and (in Jagger's case) air:

also lol Brian Dunkelman.

jeez I just looked at the one she got praise for from the judges and I think it's bad too. really pitchy, half-assed belty, sounds like bad karaoke. you sent me down the rabbit hole. I think the problem though is both songs were in keys not really suited to her voice.
