Basically I've got the urge to listen to these guys A LOT right now.

Trapdoor vs. Harsh 70s vs. White House vs. Tusk vs. Secret Earth, for me anyway.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Friday, 26 February 2010 23:23 (3 years ago) Permalink

Ha! If I pull one of them out these days its the compilation that came out on Shock (World Peace Hope et al, truly no filler on that, and every incidental scrap works when placed against alternative versions of some of the 'hits')

Gonna go for Clyma Est Mort, I reckon - will re-listen.

There's a few there that I've never heard before, looking forward to filling in the blanks.

Don't know about the last few ones after The Damned, which I have (to my shame!) neglected to track (probably feel that I should never own that much by any band) but that stretch between Trapadoor... up to The White House is last credible-rock-group-in-scary-quotes material.

Oh, and here is the BBC Music 6 bio on them :-)

Wow, they've been played on Stuart Maconie?

I'm surprised as well - from the once or twice I managed to listen to The Freak Zone I never got the impression he'd play them but glad to be wrong. But The Dead C are the point at which all of this BBC Music 6 stuff goes 'wrong' in a major way, its quite funny this poll got posted today of all days.

voted THE OPERATION OF THE SONNE, but yeah, everything from TRAPDOOR on is essential - have never been able to source NEW ELECTRIC MUSIC :-(
is GOLDEN CANINE a new one? exciting!

Ward Fowler, Saturday, 27 February 2010 20:40 (3 years ago) Permalink

It was a tour-only thing from 2008, and um, probably should have been left out cos it's more like an EP too.

hi! :D

I rank my top 5:

-Harsh Seventies
-Eusa Kills
-Trapdoor/Helen CD
-Secret Earth
-DR503

But I love it all. One of the most important bands to my personal development; hearing them circa age 14 was a game-changer.

Voted "Helen" even though it's only a single (? ep?) but it's definitely my favorite thing they ever did...

Trapdoor Fucking Exit! What a name for an album too.

new album out! who knew! just stumbled across the CD in the record store, didn't even bother to look for the LP, because I just assume Ba Da Bing would be up to their normal shenanigans (releasing the LP like 6 months later), but it looks like the LP is out now too! who's heard it!

Does anybody have the DIW Magazine from 2007 with the Future Artists review in it?

Raymond Cummings, Sunday, 14 October 2012 04:09 (8 months ago) Permalink

So much stuff in their catalogue that I haven't heard. Eventually I'll get caught up. I hope.
