Yeah that first Zef video I saw was obv shot with some pretty nice equipment, which really helps the appeal. If it was shot w a shitty webcam wonder if it would have blown up like it did. They may be playing characters but if those people are actually making the music then really how fake is it? Not that it probably matters anyways.... The beats are pretty badass tho!

Vanilla Ice, I watched TMNT 2 the other day for the first time in a looong while and actually like it a little (particularly Vanilla is here with the New Jack groove). Too bad he is so embarrassed by this stuff, Ice could go on tour w Hammer to massively cash in on 2k15's 90's Hip Hop/New Jack Swing revival.

Most of it is very dirty :-) and some of the translation will get rid of some of the subtleties of Afrikaans/Dutch

"Je kijkt zo mooi met mijn piel in je keel" = "you look so nice with my p*nis in your throat" -> one of the Dutch slang words for penis is "piemel" but Afrikaners use a short (!) version of that, "piel"

Went to this event last night: http://blogs.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/2012/11/die_antwoord_meltdown_november_13_2012.php - weird to see Ninja and Yo-Landi out of character for so long and just talking about how they put all this together. Boing Boing interviewer was terrible though - felt like all she (and the audience) knew about South African culture was what they saw in District 9.
