question: i really like Echoes, but is any of their earlier stuff worth getting? was the dfa production thing important to Echoes?

was the dfa production thing important to Echoes?

Yes, BUT the DFA also did the Sub Pop EP and that sounds little like Echoes does.

Vic Funk, Wednesday, 22 September 2004 22:30 (nineteen years ago) link

"Out of the races and on to the tracks" (the track itself) is definately worth getting.

Also i Love "open up your heart" but i couldnt care less about "Sister Saviour"

Why do you have to hurt me like this? Does it give you pleasure?

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 22:33 (nineteen years ago) link

The early Mirror EP is pretty good. Not dissimilar to a good Gogogoairheart record.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 22:35 (nineteen years ago) link

Somebody else on here likes Gogogoairheart!

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 22:36 (nineteen years ago) link

i think.

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 22:36 (nineteen years ago) link

nice one, Tim.

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 22:36 (nineteen years ago) link

the last song on the subpop ep is pretty good too, i have no idea what it's called, it reminds me of thin white rope meets ramblin' jack elliot with missy elliot beatboxing over it.

gogogoairheart is fine, i take it adaml has an aversion to the search function (as do a few of the other Scots on ILX).

three months pass...
From my friend Mike (a conversation he had at a party last week):
---

Me: Yeah, I use to play drums about ten years ago in Detroit--.

Dude: What was your band?

Me: I was in the Catfish. Not that alternative band, but an old school punk band. We never put out a record or played outside of the city.

Dude: That’s what I do, play drums.

Me: What’s your band?

Dude: The Rapture.

Me: No Really, what’s your band?

Dude: The Rapture.

Me: You’re in The Rapture?

Dude: Yeah.

Me: Okay, be honest with me. How much do you hate “House of Jealous Lovers?”

Dude: No, I like that song.

Me: Come on, is there part of you that’s all, “Goddamn, this song again,” when you’re playing out?

Dude: No, no, I like playing that live. Like, I look forward to it.

Of course he loves it, you'd love it too if you got to wail away on a cowbell. I bet he even calls it "the cowbell song."

They make atonal micro glitchoid twee punk and are based in Milton Keynes. Expect to hear more of these lads in 2005.

I kind of like it when DC says they were a load of horrible cacophonous squawking. I can imagine it being true - yes, I can. But, it's only my imagination.

Ask and ye shall receive.

For Immediate Release: 23/05/11

New York, NY: The Rapture have announced the release details for their long awaited third album ‘InThe Grace Of Your Love’ on September 5th in the UK & September 6th in the US through DFA Records.

The release of ‘In The Grace Of Your Love’ marks the dawn of a new chapter in the bands history and a welcome return to DFA Records family, having re-signed with the label that released some of their most acclaimed early singles, and whose founders James Murphy & Tim Goldsworthy produced their debut album ‘Echoes’.

Together with French producer Phillipe Zdar (Phoenix, Beastie Boys, Chromeo) they have crafted and shaped a bold & euphoric album that sounds definitively & distinctly like The Rapture and no one else. Here through the course of its eleven tracks, you can immerse yourself as waves of lyrical optimism & introspection crash between angular guitars & pulsing synthesizers, pounding drums & into sweet rhythmical lullabies. This is the sound of The Rapture re-engaged and revitalized with a voice as clear as they ever had.

The full tracklisting is as follows:

In The Grace Of Your Love

1) Sail Away

2) Miss You

3) Blue Bird

4) Come Back to Me

5) In the Grace of Your Love

6) Never Gonna Die Again

7) Roller Coaster

8) Children

9) Can You Find a Way?

10) How Deep Is Your Love?

11) It Takes Time to Be a Man

In The Grace Of Your Love was recorded at Motorbass, Paris and Gary's Electric in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Good to see the guitars are still being described as "angular". The publicist worked hard on that one.

cool
