I saw Felix DJ Centro-Fly during the height of Electroclash. It was pretty awesome. He played Our Darkness...

Felix's mix with Diddy last year was pretty incessantly banging. If that's his DJing style these days don't expect much downtime.

Above and Beyond are Paul Van Dyk with less cred. If that is hard to get your head around you should watch their NYE 2007 show in Rio on Youtube. I'm pretty sure I've seen Spirit Catcher but I couldn't tell you if they are any good.

the latter. joris voorn is kind of a bore live, imo.

also, just a note: i didn't get to see Matias Aguayo that night in march. i was about to head over to the club when i got a call saying my house had been robbed. apparently, it was fucking awesome.

So, all set to see terrence Parker tonight in Liverpool, been excited for two months, but he's cancelled. Again. Should we still go to the party, a residents party that will either have a defiant 'party on' vibe or resemble a wake? Or should we head down the road for maurice Fulton for a fiver?

idk - i wouldn't have particularly high expectation tho the last time i saw her (2009?) she was surprisingly ok

you're right. he played 2step only 50% of the set. even threw some commercial house that I almost couldn't tolerate

It just me, or is it much easier, in the US, to throw 2step into r&b sets than dance sets? I find that they almost always kill the vibe in the latter. I at least have to be playing as much r&b as dance to play 2step at all.

The Juan Maclean live is amazing, Juan Maclean is a perfectly competent midtempo techno DJ

heard some juan's mixes. sound like generic tech-house to me. I'll pass.

what about frankie knuckles? maybe this is a no brainer but he'll be playing to a "mainstream" crowd in a high class club so I have doubts.

Just saw the Hawtin "Beyond EDM" tour, Hawtin was fine. The real disappointment was Kevin Saunderson.

Way too pounding and tracky for my tastes, especially for how early in the night it was.

Gaiser was surprisingly pretty good, better than Hawtin.

It was also fun playing "spot the grumpy old school techno head", they were the guys standing with their arms crossed in the middle of the dance floor.

I was actually really surprised at how hard edged everything was, went in expecting a bunch of M_nus ketted out minimal and got actual banging techno.

anyone has some advice about ben klock? personally I don't think I can stomach his brand of muscle (pun unintended) techno for 3+ hours straight.

Not really into mnml but I saw him play for about an hour at a festival the other year and he was pretty good, even though he was mainly using CDJs but sometimes he played a record, and when he did he would wave it in the air like it was a big fucking deal that he was actually playing vinyl

I have 2 friends who absolutely love Liebing. If you're into 'proper techno' as they like to say, you should love it.
