I say classic, and you say?

they played the cockpit in leeds once and the ugly one fucked this girl i knew.

i didn't like their music. but then, i'm not really a fan of britrock (they were always a bit too rough to fit the britpop mould weren't they - you should have started a Powder thread instead!)

Calum Robert is being a wanker, in his usual manner, and so not surprisingly I didn't start this thread.

Who you calling a wanker fug breath?

And stop trying to blame me for your bizzaro music tastes.

DG is being a wanker and blaiming me for stupid threads.

I see your parents forgot to activate the Net Nanny, Calum.

Calum: What is your opinion of Masayuki Takayanagi?

ooops, i wet 'em...somebody pass me some fresh panties...

Shit guys, I think I might have to leave this thread - my dad is coming up stairs and I know what that means. Lots of fatherly white love juice about to pumped into me brown star of love in a few seconds.

Heh, I don't mind it really. My family is pretty cool after all. OK so my mum tends to get arrested for pissing in the street but then no family is perfect.

I'm sure if the Dolls were around now and came from Detroit they'd be all over the NME. You can't go wrong with a drummer who eats his own spunk!

Strange, Carl, I remember when you were all over the NME and MM (the Dolls' MM cover was pride of place on the wall of Diverse for a while)... still didn't help. Shame really, you deserved better.

thirteen years pass...

I'm sure if the Dolls were around now and came from Detroit they'd be all over the NME.

true.

of all the britpop crap, i still think that the 60ft dolls album is fucking brilliant.

Aye, I felt this at the time. They seemed the Who equivalent out the bunch, a hell of a lot more energy than all the shite that was playing in the common room at the time. I felt so apart from all that scene, but I loved the 60ft Dolls. And the Super Furries, and the Boos, but anyway. you have maybe inspired me to crawl into the stacks and find that first album, eh, maybe tomorrow. Might also look out that second one that got rejected and then crept out years later iirc, all I mind from that is "Alison's Room". But the first album is just high energy pop hits front to back, even the ballads. One of the true 90's lost classics.

three years pass...

Yeah, the first album is great! The second one isn't as great as the first one, but it's still - at the least - very good. 'Pig Valentine' has been running through my mind regularly for the last few years - so catchy.

seven months pass...

so, following a recent nudge, i tracked down a copy of their second album (did not realise it had actually been released to be honest).
and its not as in yer face as their debut, but its bloody wonderful.
'pig valentine' is still all time classic.
as is most of the debut album to be fair.
