Loving their debut album. Geir must be a fan of this album! Sounds like 10cc at times. Love the harmonies. Anyway, dudes from Stackridge who had hits in the U.K. but who never made it big here. Do I need their other albums? I've never even heard their biggest hit "everybody's got to learn sometime" which was apparently covered by everyone but the queen mum. what about the james warren solo album that is kinda a quasi-korgis album?

"Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime" is an epic song, as is "If I Had You".

It's a great song to cover for fun if you are in a band.

At least it's slow! I play it on the piano.

Like a lot of people until recently I only really knew this as a sample in dance music etc, so I was surprised to find out it's sung and written by a bloke from Liverpool and not taken from a Flamingos-style doo-wop number.

Liverpool? I thought Stackridge were from the West Country, that was their USP?

Tommy McTommy (Tom D.), Wednesday, 30 July 2014 11:24 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, Stackridge were from Bristol.
