the team is moritz von oswald, max loderbauer, and sasu ripatti, and an album is out on honest johns this summer. info here

omg
― elan, Friday, 24 April 2009 19:45 (seventeen years ago)
The description makes it sound almost Supersilent-ish.
― Alex in SF, Friday, 24 April 2009 20:22 (seventeen years ago)
excited is too much of an understatement.
― the table is the table, Friday, 24 April 2009 22:51 (seventeen years ago)
wow. indeed. etc.
― GÖTT DAT SCHING (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Friday, 24 April 2009 22:52 (seventeen years ago)
samples up at honest jons. supersilent comparison is actually pretty OTM http://www.honestjons.com/label.php?pid=34157&LabelID=14815
― straightola, Monday, 27 April 2009 16:10 (seventeen years ago)
yes
― jed_, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 11:52 (sixteen years ago)
So is this out?
― Alex in SF, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 15:43 (sixteen years ago)
sooooo excited to hear this
― karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:32 (sixteen years ago)
i'm psyched to hear it as well!!
according to discogs it was released yesterday. not sure on the reliability of that info, though.
the wire interview was great.
― society for cutting up (tricky), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:48 (sixteen years ago)
the honest jon's site has it available for download.
― society for cutting up (tricky), Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:52 (sixteen years ago)
does it sound like eight oil tankers colliding in carlsbad caverns over and over and over? cause that's what i want
― Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 23 June 2009 16:54 (sixteen years ago)
this is pretty great, tho' the IN A SILENT WAY comparison i read somewhere was way wide of the mark - only the last, shortest track is in any way 'dubby' - love all the percussion sounds from ripatti, in particular
― Ward Fowler, Wednesday, 8 July 2009 21:06 (sixteen years ago)
this album fucking rules. listened to it like 4 times through in less than 24 hours, instant classic. this is why MVO is one of the all time greats.
― pipecock, Thursday, 9 July 2009 02:17 (sixteen years ago)
this record is goddamn brilliant. makes me want to make a super-mix of weirdo new music shit i've been digging.
also, 2nd track is ripe for remix.
― gonna be a long hot summer for the MS Word paperclip (the table is the table), Wednesday, 22 July 2009 16:04 (sixteen years ago)
definitely one of the best "techno" albums in a long time. i can't even tell you how many times i've listened to it now, it has to be over 60. a new addition to the great BC related legacy, and an instant classic.
― pipecock, Thursday, 23 July 2009 01:38 (sixteen years ago)
I played Pattern 1 and Pattern 4 at my dj gig last night. Pattern 4 early, Pattern 1 later on. They both sounded great loud and Pattern 1 actually sounds good in the mix.
― brotherlovesdub, Thursday, 23 July 2009 17:31 (sixteen years ago)
this is great, very beautiful
― avuenjo, Thursday, 23 July 2009 18:14 (sixteen years ago)
LOL finally got this in the mail and it sounds like an exotica record
― moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 5 August 2009 23:28 (sixteen years ago)
come on, are you with me? it sounds like ferrante & teicher or a radiophonic workshop tape
― moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 6 August 2009 01:54 (sixteen years ago)
Ward Fowler always putting things respectably in perspective and Vahid always teasing out the corniness.
But did table is the table ever make that mix?
― Kiitën (admrl), Friday, 25 June 2010 04:16 (fifteen years ago)
they were GREAT in Detroit during the festival this year, with Carl Craig accompanying on a little suitcase modular...
― mikebee (BATTAGS), Friday, 25 June 2010 20:17 (fifteen years ago)
ditto With Mutek, especially since I got to stand right in front of Sasu and that crazy-ass drumset.
― Tonight I Dine on Turtle Soup (EDB), Saturday, 26 June 2010 00:15 (fifteen years ago)
the new single "Restructure 2" really is a stunner. i can take or leave the digital mystikz rebuild, it's well made but i suppose it's just not for me.
― jed_, Thursday, 16 December 2010 23:27 (fifteen years ago)
finally got around to listening to the first album, loving pattern 4
― jan špankwajer.com (diamonddave85), Sunday, 27 February 2011 22:44 (fifteen years ago)
also new album etc
― jan špankwajer.com (diamonddave85), Sunday, 27 February 2011 22:45 (fifteen years ago)
"Restructure 2" is really good! kind of surprised this didn't get more attention. I'm excited for the new album.
― with hidden noise, Sunday, 27 February 2011 22:56 (fifteen years ago)
i saw them live past saturday, band is obviously suited for live shows, it was great (but a bit too short)
― sisilafami, Monday, 28 February 2011 15:23 (fifteen years ago)
saw these guys last night. great stuff. someone said they were trying to channelize miles on the corner, and while it didn't really sound like that it did at times remind me of rated x. anyway, had no idea he was blind (??) so it was confusing to see him being lead off the stage at the end of the show.
― sonderangerbot, Thursday, 19 May 2011 12:15 (fifteen years ago)
Blind?! No. I think I read somewhere about him having had a leg injury (ankle, knee? not sure) so maybe he's not steady on his feet yet..
― willem, Thursday, 19 May 2011 12:30 (fifteen years ago)
lol yeah i admit i had absolutely no idea what was going on. that probably makes a lot more sense though...
― sonderangerbot, Thursday, 19 May 2011 12:38 (fifteen years ago)
also there's a vladislav delay quartet now.
― sisilafami, Thursday, 19 May 2011 21:15 (fifteen years ago)
The new album is really sick, and I would love to see these guys perform live. Moritz von Oswald is like the JS Bach of a certain very tiny universe.
― Clarke B., Tuesday, 24 May 2011 15:46 (fifteen years ago)
Oswald had a stroke a few years ago, almost died
― David Allah Coal (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 24 May 2011 21:45 (fifteen years ago)
Has it been mentioned that the bones & rocket ships on the cover of these were on show in New York recently? Part of a Cosima von Bonin show at the Friedrich Petzel Gallery. A lot of stuffed animals and headphones with MVO music. She also did the covers for a couple of the Phantom/Ghost records on Dial.
― with hidden noise, Tuesday, 24 May 2011 21:55 (fifteen years ago)
New album is really really fantastic
― bass, Friday, 22 June 2012 01:41 (thirteen years ago)
Tip!
― jed_, Friday, 22 June 2012 01:53 (thirteen years ago)
Ooh exciting
― ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Friday, 22 June 2012 06:25 (thirteen years ago)
Loved Vertical Ascent, wasn't too fussed about Horizontal Structures, but Fetch sounded very good on first playing.
― mike t-diva, Friday, 22 June 2012 09:00 (thirteen years ago)
new record is totally incredible, yep
― Whiney vs. (BradNelson), Friday, 22 June 2012 14:35 (thirteen years ago)
is it vinyl only?
― ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Friday, 22 June 2012 15:03 (thirteen years ago)
wait, is it on spotify?
fetch?
― ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Friday, 22 June 2012 15:04 (thirteen years ago)
ordered the new album the other day, psyched
― mh, Friday, 22 June 2012 15:43 (thirteen years ago)
this is pretty cool, i'm enjoying the jazzier and slightly less clinical feel.
― ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Friday, 22 June 2012 15:46 (thirteen years ago)
vladislav delay quartet pretty badass, btw, especially for inclusion of mika vainio
― mh, Friday, 22 June 2012 15:48 (thirteen years ago)
I had the most incredible lucid experience falling asleep to Horizontal Structures once...
― Scary Move 4 (dog latin), Friday, 22 June 2012 15:50 (thirteen years ago)
yeah, liking this a lot on my first listen. love "dark"!
― original bgm, Friday, 22 June 2012 21:21 (thirteen years ago)
moritz von oswald's blue dub is fucking perfect

― karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Sunday, 21 July 2013 08:31 (twelve years ago)

I need to check it out, still
blue dub is pretty great

This sounds great. And oh, they've brought Tony Allen in: http://honestjons.com/label/artist/Moritz_Von_Oswald_Trio/release/Sounding_Lines
― mike t-diva, Saturday, 6 June 2015 14:58 (eleven years ago)
this bangs
― tender is the late-night daypart (schlump), Friday, 19 June 2015 00:28 (ten years ago)
This is tremendous.
― Tim F, Friday, 26 June 2015 22:43 (ten years ago)
I think this is the best M. trio record yet, I kinda lost interest after the last one they did (is that the Fetch record?) and I really only bought this one to make up to free postage on a web order. But this one is great, minimal and lovely and with Tony Allen on board there's a really gorgeous and interesting new dynamic. Boogaloo!
― kraudive, Saturday, 19 March 2016 01:05 (ten years ago)
he makes them very bouncy, it's interesting to hear them work against a snare sound that is endlessly fascinating but totally out of place at their usual tempos / in their usual sound environments
― j., Friday, 11 January 2019 22:59 (seven years ago)
sounding lines is super underrated (not here just generally)
― american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 14 November 2019 16:29 (six years ago)
there's something lost with the absence of sasu ripatti and yet something else entirely gained with the presence of tony allen
― american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 14 November 2019 16:30 (six years ago)
if you miss Sasu, you can always throw on the Vladislav Delay Quartet album :)

― STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Wednesday, 18 August 2021 09:14 (four years ago)
bumping on the occasion of it not being 3am anymore and this album being really awesome
― STOCK FIST-PUMPER BRAD (BradNelson), Wednesday, 18 August 2021 16:19 (four years ago)
yeah I’m looking forward to hearing this!!! Stoked about the addition of Laurel Halo.
― brimstead, Thursday, 19 August 2021 00:45 (four years ago)
it’s good, folks
― mh, Friday, 20 August 2021 13:59 (four years ago)
So Dissent is available on Spotify but you can't buy mp3s?
― lukas, Wednesday, 8 September 2021 22:33 (four years ago)
https://moritzvonoswald.lnk.to/Dissent
looks like they switched to a different label that only sells on a couple services
― mh, Thursday, 9 September 2021 19:18 (four years ago)
bless you
