Only The Good Die wins

"New York State OF Mind" - convincing lyrics and performance, and a near Elton level of quality.

snoball, Monday, 6 October 2008 21:30 (5 years ago) Permalink

Picked "The Stranger" because Piano Man put some rockin' guitars on that motherfucker.

Have to say that he looks like Michael Keaton in that picture.

Well, no, but "Movin' Out" is truly incredible.

Piano Man.

This is where the best tracks are gathered:

The Stranger
Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
Just The Way You Are
Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)

Voted for "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" but it might as well have been one of the others. "The Stranger" is obviously the superior album.

Probably the best greatest hits CD ever

No - that's gotta be "Greatest Hits I & II." But this looks okay. Couple of weird picks but a wall of huge classics. I've been rocking "Say Goodbye To Hollywood" more and more these last few years but I think it's gotta be "Movin' Out" or "Italian Restaurant."

Scenes from an Italian Restaurant.
but which compilation is this? some versions of said song on some comps are truncated. i have a live version where he hits those first 5 piano notes and the next 30 seconds are all but obscured by crowd hysteria. always raises a smile.

I sincerly doubt "Mr. Cacciatore's" is in that image, Eazy....

He wouldn't be, he works across from the medical centre, so he wouldn't be in the frame of a photo taken facing the medical centre.

Went with "She's Always a Woman". Prefer the Piano Man comp.

Movin Out is magisterial. So I voted for it.

Drugs A. Money, Saturday, 11 October 2008 19:45 (5 years ago) Permalink

I woulda said "Piano Man" until recently when I heard it twice in a day and got kinda sick of it. So I'm saying "She's Always A Woman" instead. Evidently I have a weakness for those 3/4 minor-key piano ballads.

Thanks, guys, I had no idea. I've been really into that verse the last couple of years.
