Against The Grain! No Control could win too, but I heard Against the Grain first and you know how that goes: middle-school memories and shit.

They are so tight on this album. The way that Modern Man just explodes into existence. The breakdown at the end of Anesthesia. The near-freakout vocals at the end of Unacceptable.

Those are my favorite songs from this one, as well as Faith Alone, Flat Earth Society, and Walk Away.

I feel like a twat not voting for the first album but Suffer is just such a tour de force.

I heard some snatches of the new album and it sounded pretty classic. Anyone else heard it?

Nate Carson, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:33 (5 years ago) Permalink

I loved these guys in early high school
Suffer, No Control, Against the Grain all good, I voted for Generator actually, I think it was the first one I got after seeing "atomic garden" on 120 minutes

however "american jesus" and "yesterday" are my favorite songs of theirs.

daria-g, Sunday, 30 March 2008 12:59 (5 years ago) Permalink

Also voted Generator for sentimental reasons, it being the first BR album I heard when a punkfriend of mine brought it over. We later named our punkrockband after one of their songs from Stranger Than Fiction.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 23:01 (5 years ago) Permalink

Ha! Great result! Maybe they'll re-release it, due to popular demand.

MacDara, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 23:17 (5 years ago) Permalink

2000 The New America 0
2002 The Process of Belief 0

This is a bummer, but I guess I can't complain since I voted for No Control.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 23:23 (5 years ago) Permalink

WOW

elan, Thursday, 10 April 2008 00:11 (5 years ago) Permalink

I'm surprised so many folks have even heard that record. Haha, awesome.

Nate Carson, Thursday, 10 April 2008 00:54 (5 years ago) Permalink

the power of p2p

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 10 April 2008 22:37 (5 years ago) Permalink

80-85 is the best album because it's a comp., followed by 'Against the Grain'. Both those albums need to be blasted 100 times over the course of a year or so for one to even understand Bad Religion.

Chelvis, Friday, 11 April 2008 20:07 (5 years ago) Permalink

2 years pass...

Ha! Great result! Maybe they'll re-release it, due to popular demand.

Will it ever come out?

What the fuck kinda idiotic poll result was this? Into the Unknown is shit.

No Control all the way

Phoenix in Flight (Cattle Grind), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 22:36 (3 years ago) Permalink

it's an ILM poll.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 22:38 (3 years ago) Permalink

meaning if I started a Black Sabbath albums poll, Tyr would win?

Phoenix in Flight (Cattle Grind), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 22:41 (3 years ago) Permalink

ILM did ozzy era and dio era polls a year or 2 ago

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 22:45 (3 years ago) Permalink

so maybe it could!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 22:45 (3 years ago) Permalink

that's not as surprising. There's always been a lot of Born Again love in recent years, even if there wasn't at the time. I still think it's funny that Tony Iommi said they made fun of Ian Gillan the first time he auditioned for them, saying he sounded like "one of the Coasters", and then he winds up in the band anyway.

Phoenix in Flight (Cattle Grind), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 22:56 (3 years ago) Permalink

so why do you hate into the unknown so much? Didn't it get in Chucks book stairway to hell? That might explain the votes.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 23:02 (3 years ago) Permalink

I listened to it, didn't find it particular interesting, it's a black sheep album for sure and while there's many of those type of albums that are unfairly bashed, this one isn't one of them. I don't want to listen to Bad Religion try to be Pink Floyd!

Phoenix in Flight (Cattle Grind), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 23:02 (3 years ago) Permalink

vs.

Phoenix in Flight (Cattle Grind), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 23:05 (3 years ago) Permalink

Co-sign with ridiculous poll result...

Anyone agree that New Maps of Hell was quite solid?

skip, Wednesday, 21 April 2010 16:03 (3 years ago) Permalink

I agree, really solid album. Going to see Bad Religion in july.

Marty Innerlogic, Wednesday, 21 April 2010 18:02 (3 years ago) Permalink

2 weeks pass...

I will always love the stuff they did in the 80s.

Nate Carson, Friday, 7 May 2010 20:58 (3 years ago) Permalink

Suffer/No Control/Against The Grain/Generator could very well be one of the finest runs of albums in the history of punkrock.

Marty Innerlogic, Sunday, 9 May 2010 14:24 (3 years ago) Permalink
