I'm absolutely loving his new collaboration with Titiyo. Debut album is apparently coming out in August. Can't wait! Opinions?

This is way on the side of dull retread. I like the non-vocal stuff I've heard by him, though and "With Every Heartbeat" is as classic as they come.

I can't believe this. The Titiyo song is amazing!

I think it's good, but not amazing. I'm glad to hear Titiyo's voice again. I mostly remember her for "My Body Says Yes", a minor hit from 1991 that I always thought should have been much bigger. And "Come Along" a few years ago was pretty divine too.

COME ON!

This song is completely ripping something off. The melody when she sings "someday, as I look at the sun" comes directly from something else, please tell me what or I'll go insane

Is this album good? I really dig the cello version of "Until We Bleed"

The album, as a whole is great, but the Titiyo song is still dudsville.

No it isn't!

Oh god I love this album so much :(

...so much it makes you sad?

daavid, Monday, 16 June 2008 03:52 (fifteen years ago) link

Yes, but mostly because it so perfectly captures my mood right now. Especially "3am" which I think I might love even more than "With Every Heartbeat", largely because, while overall I don't think she's as consistent a songwriter as Robyn, I think I love Marit Bergman's voice a thousand times more.

omg fantastic album

Oh there's the thread. The album's in my top ten for the year- and in a totally rare occurrence, the song I like best (3AM with Marit Bergman) is going to be the next single. This is great news because that song is A-MA-ZING. It's fantastic while she's singing, and then she checks out somewhere around 2:40 and lets Kleerup repeat the entire vocal melody with a synth. Let me repeat: AMAZING.

Yes, top ten for me, too. I melt during the choral part of "Hero."

I revived my Niki & The Dove thread the other day for "Rock U," but the whole ep is top shelf.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 16 October 2014 02:27 (nine years ago) link

Co-signing this.

Always amazed that Robyn got so much of the adulation for "With Every Heartbeat" because as much as she sings the life out the song, it's the mournful backing and melody that really makes it. Kleerup's debut album is basically the same template with different singers and it's all solid.
