"Terrorizer" magazine's "Best Album Of The Eighties"

Think I'll give Young Gods their only vote.

Er...this list seems to leave out a few albums from the '80s. Maybe add "Terrorizer" and "loud rock" (or something like that) to the subject heading?

I love a lot of these. Went with GnR, a totally boring choice but the best album of the '80s nonetheless, though my heart wishes I could convince myself to go with Voivod or Young Gods or or Motorhead or Celtic Frost (Into the Pandemonium, I guess) instead. They could have picked way less boring '80s Butthole Surfers albums, though.

Also: To hell with Terrorizer for not including more pop-metal/hair-metal/AOR/etc. albums, several of which are as good as pretty much anything up there.
So consider GnR a protest vote about that, too.

Cool that they included Saint Vitus, though.

Voted "Back In Black" since not even "Hysteria" or "1984" were included. The rest are all unlistenable.

Geir is totally wrong of course. If a mod wants to change the title to best rock albums or add Terrorizer to the title then feel free.

That was as likely as Kerrang picking extreme metal albums in any of their lists.

those token alt-rock & hip hop choices make the list rather awkward looking. why not just stick to metal? other than that, too much goodness to choose from. somewhat interesting to include bathory's debut and omit 'under the sign of the black mark'.

It makes a change from the normal NME/Rolling Stone/Q/Spin lists for sure. Which all tend to be the same lists. Sadly the title change will mean most wont click on this thread anymore (the reason I didn't mention Terrorizer initially).

Most people are probably like Geir though and prefer those lists to Terrorizer ones.

they could've varied it up a bit, though, instead of allowing 3+ releases from bands, like maybe limiting it to no more than 2 albums/band.

even if you'd heard the rest, which you most certainly have not, this is demonstrably untrue. please think before typing. though it is true that 1984 belongs in this list (but not hysteria).

so many great albums in here: gluey porch, louder than love, reign in blood, rock for light, locust abortion, damaged, my war, nothing's shocking, streetcleaner, south of heaven, scum, danzig...my heart wants to vote for the real thing, but in truth it's too patchy, and far from being FNM's greatest album.

fresh fruit for rotting vegetables, however, is utterly impeccable. still sounds vicious and breathtaking now.

There's at least 25 totally classic albums on this list.

Yep..it's actually more of an EP, but quite awesome (especially for 'Solitude').

Johann Lundquist was the vocalist's name I think...and he wasn't bad at all, he probably fit this material better than Messiah would have (though no doubt Messiah fit his era quite well).
