I've never really been enthused by Mark Lanegan's work, either solo or with Screaming Trees however the album he's done with Soulsavers could be the one to convert me.

Early contender for album of the year.

totally agree, its a great album.
which reminds me, i need to sort out a competition for 7"/t's ..

it is to gospel what adam f's kaos is to hip-hop. i kinda likes it.

New one, Broken, making the rounds...Mark Lanegan sings Gene Clark's "Some Misunderstanding" - must hear.

new album is to feature david gahan as the main vocalist.
not heard anything yet, but no doubt it'll be widescreen production and moody vibes.
could go either way i guess.

and ..

(still to pick up the last album to be honest .. )

oh, and i never did give away the promo 7"/t-shirts.

actually, i think i ran a comp, but no-one cared.

It's okay I guess. Its nothing too special. I stopped listening halfway through. I can say for sure, that I prefer the one with Lanegan.

yeah .. thats what concerned me.

you see, they seem to have found their style and just mined it deeper and deeper with a bigger budget each time.

i still prefer their genre jumping soundsystem mixtapes to anything that they have released under their own name to be honest.

of course this opinion has nothing to do with the fact that they never talk to me anymore.

no sour grapes of anything like that.

of course not.

ahem.

this is still f*ckin' great.

tried to pick up new album today, but has yet to reach the english outback (i.e. stroud)

however, i very much doubt the widescreen doomy blues thing can beat the mixtape excellence ..

first song with Dave on it is kind of appealing, although they kind of let him ride in nasal whine mode a little too long at some points

as i'm in that kind of mood, i got both of the big name vocal albums earlier today.
while i need more time to absorb them both, the final song on the latest with dave gahan, tonight, is just fantastic.
what i didn't know is that the strings on the latest have been arranged by daniele luppi (danger mouse collaborator).
clearly someone is funding this, as the album sales cant be that big ..
of course both albums sound amazing.

ok.
a few months on, and i love the latest album.
easily one of the best albums of 2012 (f*ck the hivemind consensus).
it has totally hit my sonic needs in recent times.
i think the late night orchestral excess + soul searching dave gahan vocals = everything i ever wanted from Mode, but never got ,,
