Dr. Teeth synched up perfectly with "When you wanna sex me..." made me completely lose my shit.

Get some sleep Kevin, this isn't even the best Escort single of the year.

Display Name, Saturday, 21 July 2007 02:41 (sixteen years ago) link

this is even better than that clip of lenoard nimoy sync'd up with 'pay to cum' by bad brains!

i don't think i've heard a bad escort track yet. anyone caught them live?

haitch, Saturday, 21 July 2007 04:24 (sixteen years ago) link

but just what is the best escort single? I'd vote for Love in Indigo for dayz. And frankly, a lot of their tracks don't get me incredibly moist, just slightly damp (examples: all through the night, bright new life).

Romeo Jones, Sunday, 22 July 2007 02:29 (sixteen years ago) link

I would say that Starlight, Love In Indigo, and Bright New Life are all better than All Through The Night. All Through The Night is probably my least favorite track of theirs. I just hope the album is as good as the first three singles.

Came in here to ask whatever happened to these guys only to find it hadn't been as long as I thought. Still, though, we haven't had anything Escort-related (except that Drums od Death remix/edit) in what FEELS like ages, so: does anyone know what they're up to?

Telephone thing, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 16:02 (fourteen years ago) link

They recently remixed Zombi for Throne of Blood.

dan selzer, Tuesday, 30 June 2009 16:05 (fourteen years ago) link

...and I just realized I have that right here on my ipod. Damn you, Escort, and your deceptive productivity!

I played Bight New Life at a gig this weekend and I was wondering the same thing about them. They had such a great string of records and things seem to have dried up. When are they going to start dropping records again?

I feel like a lot of people missed out on the 12" that Dan Balis of Escort did with Darshan Jesrani of Metro Area. Together they recorded as Arcade Lover. It's a damn good record:

I heard 'Bright New Life' on a Balearic Mike mix & just assumed it was an obscure track from the past or re-edit, couldn't believe people were making tracks like that in '07 when I found out it was current, great track

There are remixes from Greg Wilson and Ewan Pearson, but I'm digging the 12" mix the most.

At least three "Where did they lift/adapt that from?" moments, which is about average for them.

Andy K, Monday, 13 September 2010 14:30 (thirteen years ago) link

It is good to see they are still at it.

srsly dudes pastiche aesthetic + amiable nihilism (Display Name), Monday, 13 September 2010 21:51 (thirteen years ago) link

really dig this

J0rdan S., Friday, 17 September 2010 05:54 (thirteen years ago) link

nice mash up i guess haw

i think its actually a pretty well done pastiche, but the cocaine thing is kinda offputting to me in the way omar's been talking abt in the mexico thread on ile -- not that im saying hed find it the same way, but repurposing those dillinger lyrics for hipster-disco club nights, ehhh

you cant see me markers (deej), Friday, 17 September 2010 12:04 (thirteen years ago) link

i dunno i mean i still think its well done just saying

just heard this. I think I like the Dillinger song too much to really get into it.

Finally came around to listening to this - fantastic, though in addition to the Dillinger and People's Choice lifts, it nicks the intro from Kid Creole's Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy ... oh well, I'm a fan of Alcazar so I can't complain. Anyone know if they still have an album planned?

Lal lah lah! No idea why they re-recorded "Bright New Life" & "All Through The Night" with breathier, less strident vocals though. Inferior to the originals.

Jedmond, Friday, 4 November 2011 03:31 (twelve years ago) link

"Chameleon" is dope as hell though!

well, the woman who sang on all those early singles left a few years back, so it makes sense to re-record them with the person who is now the lead singer, does it not?

beta blog, Saturday, 19 November 2011 01:12 (twelve years ago) link

I'm just glad to see they kept "Karawane," that was fucking awesome.

muus lääv? :D muus dut :( (Telephone thing), Saturday, 19 November 2011 01:35 (twelve years ago) link

Zena Kitt left?

Anyway it's almost summer here and so the album's being very good to me. It's just a bit frustrating that the album features inferior takes because the whole point of Escort is their mindbogglingly great execution.

ayo, just saw these dudes live and free at an outdoor concert at the mtl jazz festival. it was crazy! like 50,000 people in the audience, no way they've ever played a show that big. and they were loving it (and the singer spoke very fluent french! she was awesome in ever other way too). they played, in addition to their hits, 'there but for the grace of god,' 'miss broadway,' some gino soccio and even 'le cactus' by jacques dutronc. so good!
