So, is Indeep "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" the best song in the universe or what?

I had only kindof vaguely heard *of* this song for years, until I heard a remix of it rather accidentally some months ago on some anonymous white label DJ-made record I had ordered for the purpose of obtaining another song by another artist entirely.

Are there other Indeep songs as good as this or is this really the most incredible song ever? I mean, the sound of a toilet flushing in the middle is rather hard to beat isn't it?

Search: "When Boys Talk," just as good I'd say. "The Record Keeps Spinning" was their other big single.

I found a really cool bootleg or something worth looking for where Shep Pettibone put the vocals over a minimal 808 beat.

Anyone heard 90 Day Men's version of "Last Night, A DJ Save My Life"? Super duper!

I've definitely burned out on this.

I do like how when the song plays at house parties people think the phone is actually ringing.

There's another thread somewhere about the greatness of this track. One of my alltime favourite songs because it marries Chic-style production with Bobby O-style silliness (the toilet flushing) plus the charm of a one-hit wonder with lyrics *about* dancing/DJing, while the video has a couple of mega cute girls in cocktail dresses dancing better than anyone ever in front of a bunch of 1983 euro-teens. That's some of my most favourite things from the history of popular music right there.

I bought an Indeep compilation and "The Record Keeps Spinning" is very much worth hearing and "When Boys Talk" isn't bad too. The rest is awful.

it's the first song to use the patented "neptunes beat" that they use for all the pharrell loverman songs
