Strong, strong possibility in my mind: Isaac Brock got the name from "The Mark on the Wall," and Virginia was being quietly punnish with the phrase. She most certainly knew who Modest Mussorgsky was.

The whole bit, incidentally, as I suspect it applies well to ILM:

(Note that the Wiki cite thus gets the quotation wrong - there is no comma following "modest," at least in my printing...)
