Dud, man!

Chris Bee (Cee Bee), Thursday, 25 May 2006 04:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I love trashy radio singles, but this one always just seemed too retarded

Chris Bee (Cee Bee), Thursday, 25 May 2006 04:07 (seventeen years ago) link

the chopped&screwed version of this sounds great

chopped and screwed everything sounds great

I wonder if there's already a thread for this song, it's been out for awhile

Chris Bee (Cee Bee), Thursday, 25 May 2006 04:11 (seventeen years ago) link

i thought this was about the statement 'i'm in love with a stripper'

latebloomer (latebloomer), Thursday, 25 May 2006 04:16 (seventeen years ago) link

r. kelly on pt. 2, for your edification:

i must be the first man to ever fall in love
with an ass
gonna go down on my knees
and ask that ass to marry me me

jergins (jergins), Thursday, 25 May 2006 04:24 (seventeen years ago) link

Dud.

however...

R Kelly's verse on the remix: Classic

x-what Jergins said

plus we got a lot in common
she's a stripper, i'm a freak

jergins (jergins), Thursday, 25 May 2006 04:26 (seventeen years ago) link

you could call me the man of steel
cuz that ass is just like a magnet

Chopped & Screwed "Sex in the Kitchen" PWN3Z

The fact that the woman rapper starts her verse with, if memory serves, "My name is ho yo" makes it classic. Also, Wyclef makes enough money of that kind of shit that he has a shark tank with a shark in it in the back of one of his cars. That suits the retarded/cool dichotomy of this song.

one of my friends claims he was once playing SOCOM online and there was a kid who sounded like he was about 12 years old singing this song over the in-game voice chat. that alone is enough to make this a classic (even if it's not a patch on "Studio Love")

bernard snow (sixteen sergeants), Thursday, 25 May 2006 10:24 (seventeen years ago) link

classic! love it!

veronica moser (veronica moser), Thursday, 25 May 2006 11:31 (seventeen years ago) link

is it Eightball that says "I must need stripper counceling, cuz I'm always in the front row for a stripper annoucement"? i luv that line (like a stripper!)

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 25 May 2006 13:48 (seventeen years ago) link

Reluctantly a classic; T-Pain's full album is like visiting a Zapp themed strip club.

The "clever" vocoder bits are really annoying.

Shoes say, yeah, no hands clap your good bra. (goodbra), Thursday, 25 May 2006 14:21 (seventeen years ago) link

DUD DUD DUD DUD DUD

and even worse when radio sanitizes it as "I'm in love with a dancer."

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Thursday, 25 May 2006 17:23 (seventeen years ago) link

The sanitized version of the video ("I'm in love with a dancer") has way more stripping than the "stripper" version

Whiney G. Weingarten (whineyg), Thursday, 25 May 2006 17:28 (seventeen years ago) link

I can't lie, I must admit - classic

jodawo (jodawo), Thursday, 25 May 2006 20:25 (seventeen years ago) link

total classic. it's so incredibly drippy and sentimental -- imagine if you replaced "stripper" with "secretary"! it would be unlistenable! this song could not be about anything other than a stripper, ergo it is k-classic. the only dud is Mike Jones, but how is that news.

one day i will make an Implausible Slow Jams mixtape. it will include "Santa Knockin' Da Boots", "F@#! You Tonight" and will open with this songs.

I resisted its charms for some time, but there's something about the way that laser synth line interlocks with the rootsy acoustic guitar that I find fascinating.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 25 May 2006 21:59 (seventeen years ago) link

Also: "the night thing" = most hilarious euphemism for sex ever

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 25 May 2006 22:01 (seventeen years ago) link

yes, and the way the whistly synth line sort of naïvely doubles the vocal melody on the chorus. also the cognitive dissonance of the singer flexing his melisma on such lines as "she can pop it, she can lock it..."

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 26 May 2006 02:29 (seventeen years ago) link

Huge dud, and one of my least favorite clock-radio assaults in the morning. I HATE the way the vocal line EXACTLY follows the synth on "She rockin', she rollin'" or whatever. Grating.

Doctor Casino (Doctor Casino), Friday, 26 May 2006 02:48 (seventeen years ago) link

clock-radio assaults

i like this phrase, and agree this song wouldn't exactly be welcome at 6:30 a.m. on a work day.
