oh shit how come noone has mentione When the levee breaks by led zep. It's not that memorable of an harmonica line but paired with the massive drums and the guitar riffs it's probably the rockiest an harmonica has ever sounded.

25. Jane's Addiction - My Time

how's life, Wednesday, 7 October 2015 14:30 (eight years ago) link

2nd Talk Talk "Rainbow" and Led Zep "Levee Breaks" - are you also sometimes confused as to weather a distorted harmonica is a guitar? how can they sound so similar?

niels, Wednesday, 7 October 2015 14:42 (eight years ago) link

I think it's because in those two songs it's made to sound like a string instrument, long steady lines instead of huffing around several notes. It sounds like guitar feedback.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 8 October 2015 05:37 (eight years ago) link

I can't find a live video of Led Zep to see how it sounds live without the studio trickery hiding the harmonica behind the wall of noise, I think the 'guitar' sound is partly the production. I found these ladies doing a great cover, makes the harmonica sounds more distinctive.:
