-- M@tt He1geson (matt@game[remove]informer.com), November 1st, 2005.
You're very welcome! Too bad I'm a procrastinator and you're enjoying it a day too late.
Last time I saw the Misfits the singer was lip-synching and the band was playing (or pretending to play) to a backing track. Very fucking weak. Also very true. -- GBro (gdenzi...), November 1st, 2005.
I'm betting this was not during 1978 - 1983?
And incidentally, any Misfits compilation that is missing "Angelfuck" (like yours) should be viewed with suspicion and, if necessary, disdain. -- Alex in NYC (vassife...), November 1st, 2005.
I'll quote my own info file that's in the zip archive...
Some of YOUR favorites might not be here. In some cases I dropped songs because they didn't fit the flow of the selections. If it makes you feel any better, some of my own favorite Misfits songs didn't make the cut; they were sacrificed for the greater good of the compilation. Some may still take issue with my choices of songs or versions. To thems I say: Make your own damn compilation.
So disdain if you must, but the comp's not meant to be all-inclusive; just a good listen. It was the result of 3 months of version research and track list tweaking. Maybe you'll give a listen to see if isn't worth what you paid for it before casting suspicion, disdain, derision, aspersions, etc...

The Misifts haven't been worth spitting at since the demise of the original line-up.
Ignore these nitpicking, indie rock schmendricks.
For a start, I was joking (anyone who flies the flag of the Misfits is well fine with me), secondly -- you probably owe indie rock fans an apology for presuming I'm one of them.

ooh, nice to have the proper track order for this again.
― sleeve, Wednesday, 22 October 2008 23:46 (4 years ago) Permalink
I am jealous of people who are hearing the misfits for the first time.
something I didn't stress when this was originally posted was the amount of time spent determining the best versions of tracks. there are 3-4 versions of a lot of misfits songs, especially the early stuff. so this comp isn't just great misfits tunes, they're the best versions available, too (imo). for instance, 12 hits from hell redeemed a lot of misfits songs I never particularly liked - "horror hotel", "ghouls night out".
also I upgraded some of the tracks that were 128kbs in the original, so if you dug it before a re-download might be in order.
I've been loving the earth AD stuff a lot this year. so brutal!
― Edward III, Thursday, 23 October 2008 19:49 (4 years ago) Permalink
I love the Misfits, so I'm psyched to hear this comp.
― Mordy, Thursday, 23 October 2008 19:57 (4 years ago) Permalink
should i see them on halloween?
seems the only acceptable time to see nu-misfits
― jigglepanda.gif (Whiney G. Weingarten), Thursday, 23 October 2008 20:06 (4 years ago) Permalink
I've never seen nu-misfits live - maybe they're fun? I haven't heard good things, and the albums are dire. why not seek out some other fright fare that's still kicks it? (white mice anyone?)
I was kinda hoping when doyle started doing misfits sets w/ danzig that it would lead to a fullblown reunion, but no dice so far. I'm lukewarm at best on the concept of reunions in general but shit, the misfits? if nothing else the pent-up butthurt emmanating from a stage containing danzig + jerry would be strong enough to vaporize the first three rows leaving a smoldering pile of skull tees and dippity doo devillocks.

wikipedia lulz
This new incarnation of The Misfits released their debut album, American Psycho, in 1997. The album was fairly well received, introducing The Misfits to a new generation of fans. However, many fans of the original Misfits had trouble accepting the band's renewed existence without its founder and key songwriter, Glenn Danzig, who usually refuses to acknowledge the new band's existence, and does so only with derision. Detractors also took issue with the new band's focus on a more "cartoony" image (often referring to them as "The Newfits", "MisfitsTM", "The Jerry Only Band", "The Mishits", "The Shitfits", or "Misfits 95") , and Jerry Only's apparent desire to make the band more family-friendly, by refraining from the use of vulgarities in their new songs.

I owe you my thanks, Edward. I downloaded this last year (I think) for my ipod and ended up coming back to it again and again. Classic. At the time, I only had a couple of old Misfits cassettes (i.e. recordings from LPs) I'd had since the 80s. I've since bought the two "Collection" compilations for home listening - which is more than I'll ever need (I think!).
So cheers -- you re-introduced me to the Misfits!
