What's you pleasure? Mine's Sweet Blindness. But try and convince me why I should sample Sweet Cherry Wine.

Or are you going to tell me "ain't gonna tell you what I've been drinking"?

"Sweet Cherry Wine" has an irresistable (to me, anyhow) weirdly-stilted rhythm going on in the vocals in each verse. That alone is worth the price of admission. Add to that the fact that it's from square in the middle of Tommy James' flower child anthemist-wannabe period, (think "Crystal Blue Persuasion", "Loved One") and I'd say it qualifies as a must-listen. Not sure what is going on in the lyrics-- I think he's singing about LSD (the "sweet cherry wine") being a gift from God...or something.

That being said, "Sweet Blindness", the original Laura Nyro version, at least, is one of my favorites by her.

It's probably not entirely fair to compare the two; "Sweet Cherry Wine" is somewhat ersatz hippy/Jesus people fluff, while "Sweet Blindness" is in a different league...think cloyingly sweet Boone's Farm kids' stuff vs a jug of homemade wine from grapes picked off your grandpa's vines...

"Sweet Blindness" is definitely the sexier of the two, for whatever that's worth.

That was a pretty good answer, Dell, and one more than I expected to get on this thread. Thanks.
