Some really weird surf rock was blaring out of a squid-ball parlor the other day - the man said it was TAKESHI TERAUCHI & His BLUE JEANS.
Can ILM tell me where to start?

Japanese Ventures-wannabe, but still decent. I think Terauchi is a guitar player in the vein of Nokie Edwards. Or thereabouts.

Managed to find an album on seoulsikh last week and i'm really loving this. much luch weirder than the Ventures. I'm thinking of ordering some stuff from amazon.jp but don't really know where to start...

Let's Go Eleki Bushi is pretty amazing. I especially like the tracks with more Japanese melodies.

It's a rainy gloomy January day and this is what I'm going to listen to on the way to work.

I'd "like" this if I could

There's a little bit about Terauchi in Michael K. Boourdaghs's Sayonara Amerika, Sayonara Nippon (discussed somewhat more on one of the jpop threads).

Talks about how he resisted making the changes in packaging that probably would have been necessary to make the transition to the counter-cultural rock era. He mastered the sounds, but wasn't into the ideological trappings.
