drum sound in Whispers "Rock Steady"

Is the drum sound in Whispers hit "Rock Steady" gated or is it a drum machine sound?

Drum machine or sampled sounds triggered from drum machine or sequencer. Snare sound doubled with gated-sounding handclaps (a Solar Records trademark, I think). Additional processing with what sounds like a small room reverb.

There are two threads about "Rock Steady" by The Whispers on ILM. Both are started by Startrekman, one year apart, and both ask technical questions about the production. This is the one he doesn't drop an n-word in.
