remember reading ages ago that before they blew they used to be called pretty rickie & the maverix, and that there was an ACTUAL pretty rickie who got kicked out in a coup by the other guys! who then stole his name. the couple songs i heard from that time were terrific also.

Jim Jonsin (who produces, like, a billion hits today, including Lil wayne's Lollipop aside from Jamie Foxx's Unpredictable, Danity Kane's Showstopper, etc) used to be Jealous J of Cut it Up Def Records back in 1988/1989. He and his old partner Jock D were like THE turntablists of 1988-1990 outside of DJ Magic Mike and Mr. Mixx of 2 Live Crew.

Kooley C aka Calvin Puckett is the father of the entire West Palm Beach bass scene, recording more than once with Dynamix II around the same time, as well as Cut It Up Def, and having the second record on Luke Skyywalker Records.

These two guys both had a hand in the Pretty Ricky story from day 1. Kooley was the one who told me about the coup as it were. I think there're more, but I'm (surprise surprise) drunk.
