Has Anybody Ever Bought Any Of Those 10-CD Rallizes Boxes On eBay?

I'm looking at one in particular, and the price isn't bad, but I'm not sure about it. So...if you've ever bought any of this stuff (there seem to be three or four different boxes, each containing 10 CD-Rs of mixed racket, some from the late 60s, some from the 70s, some from the 80s), please offer some guidance. Thanks.

You're entering deep, deep waters my friend

If you're not into filesharing (lotsa LRD stuff on slsk), I'd say go for it. While I haven't heard it all, everything I have heard is always fantastic.

Roger pretty much OTM, though IMHO the best sounding stuff is the "Live 77" double album. The songs are all good jams, the sound quality is good and it's intense and RAD throughout. Other than that, also good is "Studio et Live" which, I think, is late sixties stuff. Less exciting is "Blind Baby Got It's Mother's Eyes" which, if I am recalling correctly, is half band stuff and half Mizutani solo stuff. Some weird, weird stuff.. vaguely "baby song"-esque, if yr a Husker Du fan.

I already have Live '77, and the thing is, the particular 10-disc box I'm looking at might contain that again, but on the other hand it also contains the 1997 Mizutani/Arthur Doyle gig, which I thought was only available on vinyl. Plus, it's only $80, and all the others I've seen in the past were $100. So I guess I'll go for it, and if I don't love it, it'll be my last purchase...if not, I'll have to get the others.

ha. You're even more insane than most of us are. Let us know what ya think though, will ya? And the contents and whatnot. There are 'tangled' discographies, and then there's Rallizes..

Just completed the Paypal transaction. Here's what I got, cut 'n' pasted from the listing...

Les Rallizes Denudes
Set & Sound
10-CD set

This is the first box that started them all. Includes the much sought after early material. As mysterious as all the other flocks of Rallizes merch but here the sound quality is the best and earliest generations known. Very rare and not many left for sale.

1.'67 et studio
2.9-11-80
3.10-29-80
4.live '77
5.et cetera
6.11-18-97 w/Arthur Doyle
7.Oz Days
8. Solo 1970

is the "oz days" thing the entire compilation (w/acid seven and so on)or just rallizes?

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Sunday, 15 May 2005 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

No idea. I've never even heard of it. The main attraction of this thing, to me, is the stuff with Doyle.

I recall seeing on eBay a few times over the past years a repress of the Taj Mahal Travellers/Rallizes sides of Oz Days, but not the rest. Still went for $75+, though. Maybe ought to add that to the list of pricey records I'm glad to own on MP3.

You gotta share that stuff with Arthur when you get it dude.

Been geeking on his collab with Hamid Drake all day

Drool. Drool.

I just bought Live 77 in Toronto. No one will listen to it with me. I guess I'm too spellbinded by that earfuck guitar to notice the serious lack of fidelity.

I bought three of the 10cd sets, when i was in my Ralizees craze. "studio and soundboard" (70s/80s) "93-97" and "live 1980". i end up listening to 2-3 discs of each set on a regular basis, and not alot of the other discs. there are some great moments though on there, that i think out-do live 77. i'll probibly end up getting rid of them at some point, but i definately enjoy them.

No one will listen to it with me.

I lent this to a friend a few months ago and he's never mentioned it. I hope it didn't ruin a friendship.

What did Arthur Doyle play on with Hamid Drake???

mcd (mcd), Monday, 16 May 2005 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

a collab LP on Qbico called Your Spirit is Calling

get it quick dude there's only like 500, colored vinyl and all, and I think it's fantastic - maybe Arthur's best work since The Black Ark. Hamid sounds thoroughly confused throughout but rules as usual

If somebody could gmail me the Doyle/Drake stuff I'd be eternally grateful.

Well, I got my 10 CDs of Les Rallizes Denudes and related stuff today. (Paid w/Paypal on Sunday; not bad!) I had to use this page to figure out exactly what I got, but what I got was pretty damn good: '67-'69 Studio Et Live, the Et Cetera EP, Oz Days, liveage from 9/11/80 and 10/29/80 (the latter being a 2CD set), Mizutani's solo studio disc, and the double album by Mizutani, Arthur Doyle and Sabu Toyozumi. Got '77 Live again, but that's okay.
